About the Author Zainul Aberdeen is a photojournalist working for Tabloid Newspapers in Durban, South Africa. His love for buses started at the age of 7 when he first began travelling with his mother on a bus to the Durban CBD. In 1995, whilst in school and at the age of 16 he began working for Mayville Coach Lines. He began as a conductor, then rank manager and inspector. Sadly he was retrenched in 2003 due to the influx of the mini bus industry. In 2009 his underlying passion and inquisitiveness about the origins of the buses encouraged him to conduct an in-depth research about the Durban Indian bus industry.
