This internship is designed to give you hands-on experience, help you explore different departments, and grow both your technical and professional skills. You’ll be supported every step of the way and encouraged to make the most of your time here—by asking questions, getting involved, and contributing to real projects.
Meet your team, orientation, start CAD training, and interview teammates your manager connects you with
Shadow someone from another department and try a mioni task with their guidance
Start contributing to real project tasks and attend a field walk or team meeting
Reflect on your experience so far and start brainstorming ideas for your final presentation
Dive deeper into projects, build your skills, and complete your Intern BINGO
Share what you’ve learned, celebrate with your team, and complete your exit feedback
Time: 2-4 hours of onboarding + lunch

9 Get a tour of the office and meet your teammates
9 Attend yout first team meeting
9 Enjoy a welcome team lunch with your office
Time: 1.5-2 hours of orientation with HR

9 Begin your Mini CAD Training (1-3 days)
9 Start interviewing team members to learn about different roles
» Your manager will help you identify 2 Surveyors, 2 Engineers, and 1 Drafter to connect with
» They’ll support you in setting up time and preparing thoughtful questions
Example questions to ask:
• What does your day-to-day look like?
• What do you love about your job?
• What skills helped you succeed in this role?
• What advice would you give to someone starting out?
9 Shadow a team member from a different department (e.g., engineer shadows a surveyor)
9 Take on a 1-week mini task based on your interests and availability
» Your manager will pair you with a cross-department mentor and help select a task suited to your skill level
Ask questions, take notes, and give the assignment your best effort— with support from your mentor!
Time: 2-4 hours of onboarding + lunch
9 Begin assisting with tasks like drafting, site visits, suveys, or permit research
9 Continue learning from your mentor and watching training videos
9 Track your progress using your Intern BINGO Card (Finish it for a chance to win prizes!)
You might work on things like:
• Utility or topo surveys
• Stormwater or grading calcs
• Field walks or punch lists
• Permit applications
• Bluebeam or Auto TURN markups
• ADA and cross-section exercises
You’ll be given opportunities to complete a task independently, with guidance and check-ins from your manager and team.
9 Enjoy a mid-summer pizza party with your office
9 Reflect with your manager or mentor on what you’ve learned so far
9 Begin discussing your End-of-Summer Presentation topic
» This could be about a project you worked on, something you shadowed, or a concept you mastered
9 Finalize and rehearse your 5-7 minute presentation
9 Share your experience with your team, mentors, and leaders
9 Attend and cheer on fellow interns during their presentations
9 Submit your intern feedback form to HR
9 Make sure your contact info is updated
9 Connect with your teammates on Linkedin
9 Stay in touch—you may be invited back!
