Read your Schedule carefully, if in doubt, please ask, we would much rather help you than have your exhibit disqualified.

All cut flowers entries will (excluding Decorative Section) become the property of the Society and will be sold during the afternoon of the Show.

Exhibitors are requested to attach names of varieties to exhibits where possible.

Help will be given to novices if required.

Exhibits must not be uplifted before 4.00 pm.

The Competition will be open to all who cultivate their own gardens.

There will also be an Open Competition for Gardeners and Amateurs.

Every Competitor must forward to the Entries Secretary, in writing, not later than first post Friday prior to Exhibition, a list of Plant, Flowers, Fruits etc., he or she intends to bring forward for competition, giving number, etc., as entered in the Prize Schedule, and no entries will be accepted after that time. All Pot Plants must have been under the personal management of competitors at least twelve weeks prior to Exhibition, and all other articles eight weeks. Competitors will, if considered necessary, be bound to satisfy the Committee that this condition has been observed.

The Showrooms will be open on Friday evening as per page 3 and from 7.00 am on Saturday, and every article for Competition must be placed and made ready for inspection of the judges by 10.00 am on the morning of the exhibition. All articles exhibited (excluding Cut Flowers), whether competing successfully or not, will remain the property of the Exhibitors, but none of them must be removed from their position in the Marquee before 4.00 pm. All exhibits must be collected at 4.00 pm otherwise exhibits will be disposed of by the Committee.

Competitors are not allowed in the Marquee while the judges are officially engaged, unless with the consent of the Committee.

Every precaution will be taken to preserve all Plants, Flowers, Bouquets, Vegetables etc., placed, either for Competitions or Exhibition, and Bases, Stands or Pots containing them; but the Society will not be responsible for any damage that may be sustained by injury to, or loss of, any article or exhibit.

The Judges are authorised to withhold or modify the Prizes if the exhibits are considered unworthy. Judges decision shall in all cases be final. Protests in regard to awards are of no avail unless it can be proved that the printed rules have been violated.

Unless specified in the schedule special prizes other than 1st, 2nd and 3rd, or best exhibit shall be awarded by the judges at their sole discretion.

No parties allowed to compete without having paid their Entry money, as under, to the Entries Secretary, not later than Friday, 6.00 pm previous to show, viz:- 20p each entry, except where otherwise stated; and the committee reserve the power to visit Gardens of Competitors.

All disputes or offences to be communicated to the Secretary in writing to be laid before the Committee.

The Society’s Financial Year will end on the 31st December.

An AGM will be held within four weeks from the date of the show for the purpose of hearing reports, electing Office-Bearers, and making any alteration of revision of the rules that may be considered necessary.

Cut Flowers, in Vases supplied by Society, must be placed so as to be easily identified. Exhibits without labels and Exhibitor’s Name attached will be disqualified. This Rule will be strictly enforced.

All Cut Flower entries, excluding Decorative Section, will become the property of the Society and will be sold in the afternoon of the Show.

All prize money will be paid on afternoon of Show by the Treasurer in the Marquee at 3.00 pm. Prizes not claimed by 8th September, 2018 will be forfeited.

Entries and Fees will be received by Entry Secretary (Mrs McIntyre, Ayr Street, Moniaive), in the three days previous to the Show (afternoons or evenings) or at any time by post.

Articles for competition will be received in the Marquee on Friday evening from: 6.00pm – 10.00pm and from: 7.00am – 10.00am on the morning of the Exhibition. All exhibits will remain the property of the Exhibitors and must not be removed from the Show Room before: 4.00pm All entries must be Exhibitor’s own work and must not have been shown previously at this Show.

Competitors not allowed in the Marquee after the arrival of the Judges at: 10.00am Judges’ decision shall in all cases be final. Objections are of no avail unless it can be proved that the printed rules have been violated.

Objections to be communicated to the Secretary, in writing, to be laid before the Committee.

In the event of two Competitors having equal points for the Silver Cup the Competitor gaining most First Prizes will be the winner of the Cup. Competitors are limited to two entries in any Competition.

SECTION I A Silver Cup will be presented to the Competitor, resident in Glencairn and Tynron and the whole of the Moniaive Postal District, gaining most points.

The Gourlay Silver Trophy presented by The Late Mrs Gourlay, of The Ford, for the Competitor outwith the above district gaining most points.

Open Challenge Trophy in memory of the Late Miss Edwards awarded for most points in the Preserves Section.

The Jessie H. Harley Memorial Bowl awarded to the best exhibit of the Handicraft section confined to Competitors resident in Glencairn and Tynron and the whole of the Moniaive District (excluding photographs).

Bill Richardson Memorial Trophy awarded for best exhibit in the Photograph Section.

All cups to be returned to the Secretary by 4th June, 2018
