Recreational Parks The litter counts in recreational parks have also jumped about over recent surveys, once again making interpretation difficult. The 2015/16 survey found 12.7% more litter with increased cigarette, takeaway food packaging and general other litter partially offset by reductions in beverage container litter.
Residential Streets The litter counted on ACT’s residential streets fell by 1.1%. Reductions in takeaway food packaging and other paper were offset by increased cigarette and general other litter, the majority of which was an increase in litter from junk mail and circulars. Over the longer term, the litter found in residential streets has been relatively stable over the last four years.
