DAMIEN HIRST GALLERY
*Work completed as a partnership

Similar to the artifacts from the Wreck of the Unbelievable,
this gallery appears to be a ruin discovered by chance.
Its origins are a mystery as the form exhibits Ancient Egyptian features but also very clearly manifests a character that is foreign and alien. The gallery is constantly morphing with the influx and out-flux of guests and is made of a series of components which perform structurally when assembled. To this end, the larger pieces act like vertical anchors, allowing for the horizontal pieces to span. Following the tenure of the gallery, these pieces can then be disassembled and sold as individual artifacts.

AUTONOMOUS FLUX

Business is changing.
The economic landscape is transforming to accommodate jobs and markets that never before existed. Presently, workers have the ability to migrate away from the traditional workplace and work remotely. Whether this means running a social media empire from a beach side hut in Bali or selling hand-knit sweaters from your home, the definition of the workplace is changing. This building seeks to serve one of the largest growing sectors of internet businesses: e-commerce. By 2020, it is projected that e-commerce sales will bring in over $4 trillion worldwide. Business owners across the globe are itching to break into this market, and this building will help them do that. Designed to accommodate the specific needs of e-commerce businesses, this building houses a state-of-the-art shipping center and package delivery system. Additionally, this building offers flexible pop-up spaces to accommodate product reveals and sponsor partnered events. This building will position any business, small or large, at the forefront of the e-commerce market.

HOUSE OF THE FUTURE
*Work completed as a partnership

(Above) Platform Perspective
In approaching our vision for the house of the future, we were interested in looking at the subject of the nomad and the future of extreme consumerism.
We have envisioned a house of temporality that exists in line with the ever changing and transient culture of nomadism. To facilitate this planned obsolescence, we have utilized the technology of 3D printing in combination with the impermanence of salt. As a vehicle for consumerist waste, we foresee the nomad’s desire to dispose of their homes post-use and have therefore chosen this material for its dissolvable qualities. To further facilitate the nomad’s need for change and individuality, the houses are designed to be carved into in order to mold the space to their needs and desires. Additionally, we have chosen to focus on the idea of exhibitionism and the celebration of everyday life by inviting the public to traverse the landscape of this housing project through a series of pathways that offer views into the houses. We envision this network of nomadic life proliferating throughout the whole of London via existing waterways.

HIDDEN PARKSIDE

While others may stand out, this project shies away from the spotlight.
Infill structures weave into the fabric of the existing landscape resulting in a design that honors the present vernacular architecture. From there, this project involves the transformation of an alleyway into a space of spontaneous gathering, the design of which is a response to the natural striations of the existing rowhouses. Framing this open-air courtyard are flexible storefront spaces attached to the rear of the existing homes. These quasi-market stalls can facilitate a range of programs from community-run coffee shops to small scale restaurants. The community, thus, becomes an active participant in this design, shaping it to fit their needs. The main infill space houses an open community meeting room, a business/study center, and a private conference room. The auxiliary infill spaces house community library collections each with an individual focus (children, music, business, & local history). This strategy of urban infill is one that is ready and able to evolve and grow with the needs of the community.
