PG 01.

TREND RESEARCH Looking at the predicted trends for SS16 we focused on “Eco Active” and used this fashion forecast to drive inspiration for our colour palette and prints and to assist in making choices for silhouettes and design features.

The Eco-Active trend is based around sportswear in a social context, and involving it into everyday apparel, which has been simply described by WGSN as “Sport - on a social rather than technical level”. This concept has been considered in terms of how it could be applied to the already well established Rodd & Gunn label, and has resulted in the release of the Spring/Summer 2016 “Relaxed Rodd” range.

After carrying out trend research for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2016 season we investigated relevant primary competitors of Rodd & Gunn and recognised that this sportwear element is already an embedded aspect in a lot of competing brands; Ralph Lauren Polo as a significant example. Considering this decisions were able to be made on pricing of products and also what we could design and produce for the range to differentiate the range from already existing products on the market. $

RANGE STORY

We want our loyal Rodd & Gunn customer to be able to come home from work, slip off his “Millharbour Shoes” loosen his “Baltimore Wharf Tie”, carefully remove and hang up his “Dering Slim Fit” Jacket and Pant and throw on his Rodd and Gunn crew neck and tailored tracksuit grab the remote and jump on the lazy boy for some well earned down.

Currently Rodd and Gunn is providing apparel perfect for a day at the office, a swanky dinner party and a Sunday brunch but doesn’t cater for the consumers work and social off duty lifestyle, being a lazy arvo on the couch, a day at the beach or backyard football with the kids. The Spring/Summer 2016 August drop labelled with the theme “Relaxed Rodd” will remove this void in customers wardrobes and fill it with quality off-duty pieces, brace yourself for the release of the “relaxed fit” and a range of new categories to fulfill all casual wear needs.

WINDOW DISPLAY EXECUTION Entrance to the store will feature the couch photographed for social media and advertising. This execution aims to give customers an immediate indication of the relaxed styles that will be offered in the new range and also carries through the concept of the “relaxed rodd� collection.

Key outfits for the range will be displayed in the store window (see opposite for close ups of looks to be displayed on mannequins).

Other than the couch displayed in the front entrance of stores visual merchasing will simply consist of using existing tables and shelves and displaying styles in outfit categories, these being indicated on the outfits and styling indications pages (21 - 24).

ONLINE & SOCIAL MEDIA EXECUTIONS To the left is the current image displayed on the Rodd & Gunn website which is seen when you first enter the website. The release of the “Relaxed Rodd” range will also be accompanied by new imagery (seen below) that will enable customers to quickly “shop now”.

To the left is an example of the online imagery for the “Great Escape” theme that is currently in store at Rodd & Gunn. To carry through the concept for this theme a tropical forrest photograph has been used as a banner for the “New Arrivals” page. A similar execution will be used upon release of the “Relaxed Rodd” theme with a photograph of a couch being featured in place of the forrest image to carry through the idea of the relaxed theme.
