We commemorated Kiwanis One Day at the Division 23 East Day of Fun for over 50 children from three children’s homes along with their caregivers on Saturday October 24 at Hope Gardens The twelve members of our club, were joined by 11 members of our sponsored Key Club at Camperdown High School. We had fun serving as chaperones for the children as they engaged in various activities including rides, dance and other competitions.
The ladies of SSA made two donations to the families in Gregory Park who lost their homes and belongings after a fire in August 2023. The two handovers took place on Saturday November 4 and Saturday December 12 respectively and included donations of clothing, personal care items and food items. After seeing first hand the tremendous needs of the families which included 27 adults and 18 children during our first visit, we realized we had to do more thus facilitating a second donation, all the time under the watchful eyes of members of the security forces who also lent a hand in the handovers.
We did our annual visit to the ladies at the South Camp Juvenile Correctional and Rehabilitation Centre on Friday December 15, presenting them with toiletries, personal care items and a Christmas cake to keep in the season. This year’s visit featured a motivational talk by Past Director Yvette who challenged the ladies to make a plan to be the best versions of themselves. It was a truly enriching visit for the ladies at the centre, the Wardens, as well as the members from SSA who participated. Thank you to all who contributed to yet another successful visit.
We added a number of silverware to our collection from the 4th quarter results of the last Kiwanis year presented at the 1st quarter DCM held on Saturday December 2 at UWI. These included the coveted Egerton Chinloy trophy for amassing the most points in interclubbing and fellowship and the Percy Lindo 1st place award in the Gold category

Several of us brushed off our sneakers and donned our active wear to participate in the annual ICWI Pink Run in support of the fight against breast cancer. The race/walk took place on Sunday October 29 at the Hope Botanical Gardens in Kingston.
Our annual fundraising luncheon was held on Friday November 24 with pick up point at the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean, UCC on Worthington Avenue. A huge thank you to all our members and to everyone that purchased a ticket. We can only serve the children of the world with your support.
Our first quarter church service was held on Sunday December 3 at the Church of the Ascension in Mona, pastored by Rev. Canon Michael Allen. The service was held jointly with our sponsored club, the Kiwanis Club of 23 East Professionals St. Andrew Online. Lieutenant Governor for Division 23 East, Stephan Rampair, attended the service in support of both clubs. President Melissa shared about the Kiwanis movement as well as on some of the achievements of South St. Andrew. We also made our usual presentation of a cash donation to the church’s youth department.

From the wrapping to the delivery on Christmas Day, we played our part in the 2023 staging of the Division 23 East annual staging of Baby Love. As required, we prepared three baskets packed with items for baby care, including items of clothing, diapers, wipes and other necessities. A huge thank you to all members of the club who made our participation possible.
