ABOUT

Hello, I am Katherine Scrima, an interior design student at Iowa State University. During these last few years, I have found that design is something that I have grown a passion for through my everyday life. Whether I am sitting in the comfort of my own home, studying at a cafe, or traveling, I notice how design affects the quality of my life as well as others. Studying design has made me more aware than ever of how much I want to be a reason behind that impact.

SERENE MALIBU RETREAT

Revit, Enscape, Photoshop

“Serene Malibu Retreat” is a vacation home carefully designed to fit Kim Kardashian’s minimalistic style. Each element was tailored to her style, needs, and family life.

Floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the entire vacation home bring the outdoors in and allow for the ocean view to become part of the design. Organic textures and a soft color scheme imitates the ambiance of the beach.

The interior has a clean look with a focus on texture. The use of various marble materials was inspired by the waves of the Pacific, while the light oak features give the home a natural feel. The color scheme plays on a mix of cool and warm tones to mimic the serene view of the beach.

”Intellectual Garden”

Picture yourself stepping into an interior meticulously crafted to foster intellectual growth and collaboration. Each feature of this library design aims to energize its users and allow for advancement.

Located in the heart of Iowa State University, this newly modernized space was engineered to be a third place for all. Ergonomic furnishings allow for users to take control over their space, fostering improved focus. ”Intellectual Garden” is a place where users can learn, grow, relax, and collaborate.

Two feature spaces make this university library unique. The concept of this design focuses on collaboration zones and ways to bring students together through design elements.

Parks Picks is a space that students can recommend their favorite books on a digital screen and check out others’ recommendations found on the shelves. Textured walls draw attention to the space in order to bring users in.

Study pods are placed strategically throughout the space to encourage collaboration. Pods are created with transparent elements so that students have their own space, but are not completely closed off from the library.
