Course Aims •

Provide advanced knowledge and understanding of theory and practice in Health Psychology in accordance with the requirements set by the British Psychological Society

Train in the informed and systematic application of the researchpractitioner to harness relevant theory and evidence through problem analysis and formulation, intervention design and evaluation

Equip interpersonal, technical and creative skills required for the effective analysis and formulation of health problems, and prepare students for professional work pursued in a highly responsible, selfregulated, self-efficacious and politically sensitive fashion

British Psychological Society - Accreditation Four Commendations: 1. The opportunity for students to undertake a placement is an excellent aspect of the programme. This provides invaluable experiences for students in the application of health psychology and to gain professional skills which will benefit them in seeking employment.

2. The student experience is enhanced by the availability of personal support from the staff and the quality and timeliness of feedback on their assessments. The programme team also encourages feedback from the students throughout the course and implements changes as a result.


British Psychological Society - Accreditation Commendations continued: 3. The integration of the course with other health psychology provision and other applied psychologists 4. A strength of the programme is that students are well prepared to undertake further professional training (stage 2) in health psychology as a result of their introduction to a range of therapeutic interventions and the process of conducting a systematic review.


Entry Criteria

We welcome applications from graduate psychologists (GBR) who want to go on to obtain British Psychological Society's (BPS) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) recognition as a registered health psychologist. Requirements: Min 2.1 degree in psychology GBR from BPS
