Business Development Workshop Everglades City Hall March 6th, 6 pm In January, Everglades City was designated as a Florida Trail Town by the Office of Greenways and Trails. Trail towns have or develop trails for non-motorized exploration by paddling, biking and hiking. Because of Everglades City’s proximity to the Circumnavigational Waterway, the Wilderness Waterway and many other hiking and biking trails, the OGT selected our city as one of only seven other trail towns in Florida. Other areas with these designations have experienced business growth, city revitalization and new opportunities for goods and services for trail users and residents. This workshop will provide information about what new opportunities emerged in other trail town cities and what we may expect from our new designation. The workshop is free and we invite all businessowners and entrepreneurs to attend. There will be a presentation and question and answer period after the presentation. Refreshments will be served. Perfect Weather. Perfect Weekend. 2019 Everglades City Seafood Festival Was Enjoyed by All! The 49th Annual Everglades City Seafood Festival took place on a weekend that was highlighted by pleasant temperatures, a nice breeze, great music and some pretty good food too. The bands played from mid-morning to night and the crowds definitely enjoyed it judging by the hooting, hollering and dancing going on around the big stage. The event was emceed by Chris Lombardo for the second straight year. Chris even got the crowd interested in “investing” in the sewer plant, promising that for a $5 donation the individuals name would be noted on the outside of one of the holding tanks! The offer did not go unnoticed. Members of the audience immediately started asking where they could sign up with their $5 in hand! Great job, Chris! Next year, the festival turns 50. It will be interesting to see what Carol Foss has in store for the big anniversary. Thank you to Carol, and all of the other people behind the scenes that help make the festival a success each year. It’s a lot of hard work all year long, and a grueling weekend to pull it all off. Thank you to all who helped. Below are some photos from the festival taken by the Mullet Rapper’s photojournalist, Helen Bryan.

More Inside: Local entrepreneur launches a new sports line at the festival and is “blown away” by the support. Read his story on page 4.
