I am a current student in my second year at Alfred State College looking for internship/job opportunities in both the Architectural and Construction Management fields. I plan to graduate in May of 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Technology and minor in Construction Management. I have had experience and am skilled in using online modeling, rendering, and design programs. Getting involved and making an impact with a career in the building world is a part of my life that I am very eager to begin!

ABSTRACT HAT DESIGN

SOLID & VOID SKETCH GENERAL SKETCH BUILT MODEL
The concept of this design was to open up your mind to untraditional ideas and create a common piece of clothing out of it. I interpret abstract as a chaotic display of patterns and colors that would not normally be seen together but can also aesthetically work together at the same time. That is what I strove for in my design and it breaks up the look of your normal everyday hat. The first step in this process was using a solid and void method, general design sketch, and eventually using those to aid in the actual build. I have a few small concept sketches that were also done throughout the creative process. The design incorporates many different shapes, edges, colors, curves, and textures to develop the chaotic abstract look I was trying to portray.

SITE PLAN
DESIGN APPROACH:
The objective of this design was to pick a building on campus and do an in-depth analysis involving many strategies, in which my analysis included an axonometric sketch, site analysis, and site plan view. The building that I chose was the Student Development Center (SDC), in which I gathered various photos of the structure to help aid me in making sure I captured every aspect in my axonometric sketch; I believe it portrays the main concept of the building’s exterior. I then moved onto creating my site analysis by then observing the surrounding factors of the building, incorporating variables such as the sun path, wind direction, noise, parking lots, foot traffic, vehicular traffic, contours, and significant views. The last piece of this analysis was the site plan, which helped to show the top view of the building along with the vegetation, paths, roads, lots, and the adjacent structures that surround it.

SITE PLAN
DESIGN APPROACH:
The goal of this project was to create a successful cityscape while working around the challenge of doing so with differing levels of topography. The deliverables called for both a site plan view and model to portray the entirety of the cityscape. My layout incorporates various shapes and heights of masses, in which I also decided to include a bridge between the topography lines where I had imagined a small body of water. The site plan shows the top view of the cityscape where more elements are portrayed in a realistic sense, detailing the water, sidewalks, parking lots, roads, and vegetation.

DESIGN APPROACH:
The goal of this project was to create a suitable modular home for my client, which was a fellow student, and make sure it accommodated both their given disability and aesthetic preferences. Exploring with different exterior materials was a big factor in this design, as well addressing aspects throughout the home that I would usually not have considered. I worked to create a home that provided both comfortability and ease throughout everyday living with a disability. I hope to continue with having an open mind while designing and considering accommodation in future projects.
