PROFESSIONAL WORK INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE DESIGN Internship at MG2 Architects - Summer 2022 During a summer internship at MG2, I worked on a variety of projects in industrial design such as retail warehouses, shipping and packaging facilities, and fuel facilities. I primarily worked in Autocad and Revit drafting proposals for parking lot and warehouse plans and picking up markups on construction documents. I also assisted the design principal in creating presentation graphics and proposal plans for a multilevel warehouse and residential complex. I worked with the client and partnering architecture firm, attending meetings and quickly picking up changes and iterating the plans. Through this internship, I learned about the inner workings, file

S K A M A N I A D E V E LO P M E N T P LA N Internship at Mitchell Architects - Summer 2021 Working with Ron Mitchell for a summer internship, I assisted with the renderings and site planning for Skamania Lodge in Stevens Washington. The resort phased plan aims to expand the existing lodge to a multi-use resort with a variety of price points and activities. The plan includes a putting green, RV resort, glamping tents, cabins, treehouses, and 60 room farmhouse hotel. I assisted Mr. Mitchell by building the topographical site model in Revit and modeling the existing buildings after a site visit with the client, Pebblebrook Hotel Trust. I then produced initial renderings of each component of the master plan and helped compile the proposal presentation.

ACADEMIC WORK T C H O U P I T O U LA S O R C H A R D S S e c o n d Ye a r S t u d i o - 2 0 2 1 Tchoupitoulas Orchards is designed to provide an intentional housing community for individuals with a passion for cooking, healthy eating, and urban farming. The building is sectional and composed of units shifted in elevation by half floors with an enclosed open-air “street” of circulation. Sectional interaction is key to this building. The half levels and shifts in volume allow for interaction between floors and communal spaces. Lightwells puncture the complex to open views of the sky and bring in light to the homes from multiple sides. A variety of unit types including lofts, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units bring a diversity of neighbors, and the ample green spaces, gardens, and communal areas encourage residents to interact through food and nature.

ADDIS ABABA RIVER SOLUTIONS, RESEARCH PROJECT SECOND YEAR STUDIO - 2021 This research project was in collaboration with Ruben Garcia Rubio and his research efforts in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This region is faced with extreme droughts in the dry season and dangerous flooding in the rainy season. The course continues four years of previous research and aims to develop resilient housing, public facilities, and infrastructure solutions in Addis Ababa My project, which will be published in the coming year in Ruben’s book, aims to retain and slow flooding conditions at the start of the Upper Kebena River to prevent worsened flooding in denser areas of the city downstream. Through careful study and manipulation of the existing topography, key connections were designed across the river and between neighborhoods with retention ponds at their bridge points. These ponds help control flooding downstream, slow river flow, filter pollutants with bioremediation, and replenish groundwater sources. During the dry season, the unflooded ponds morph into additional public spaces for residents to engage with. On the paths and retention walls that shape the ponds are public gathering spaces that connect to major streets with needed facilities such as sanitation services, groundwater pumps, and areas for play and gathering.

J E F F E R S O N I S LA N D R E S E A R C H C E N T E R SECOND YEAR STUDIO - 2021 The proposed visitor center connects the industrial remnants of an abandoned salt mine with an untouched forested peninsula. As the visitor circulates through the building, they experience the site’s industrial history. As they move along the path, the galleries reinforce the natural history of the site and culminate in a windowed reading room facing Lake Peigneur. A screen wraps the path and buildings, creating a sense of enclosure for the visitor as they move throughout the interior and exterior procession of the Research Center.

N Ø R R E B R O N E I G H B O R H O O D P H A S E D P LA N SECOND YEAR STUDIO - 2021 In my abroad semester in Denmark, I embarked on an urban planning journey to create a phased plan for Nørrebro, an industrial neighborhood in Copenhagen. My professors, the founders of ArkiLab, taught a humanistic approach to urban design rooted in community engagement and public design. After extensive research of the area and interviews with the community, I developed a phased plan that connects Bjarke Ingel’s Superkilen bike highway to the existing roadwork infrastructure passing through the neighborhood. Key moments of connectivity were created between the major areas on all four sides of the site. Green and blue strategies, in adherence to Copenhagen’s water management and sustainability goals, follow this Superkilen extension. Adaptive reuse of existing buildings into housing and sports hall and arts facility allows the site to maintain its industrial feel while morphing it into a communal and residential area. The proposed neighborhood keeps the culture and charm of Nørrebro, known for its street sports community, while also creating densified housing with semi-private pockets in line with the traditional Danish courtyard communal living style.

ARCHIVES FIRST YEAR STUDIO - 2021 Archives is a center for Tulane’s many research collections located on Piety Wharf in New Orleans. The project investigates how public and private spaces can intersect and overlap. A central “semi-private” transparent volume connects a public gallery with the private stacks. In typical archival spaces, collections are behind closed doors and inaccessible. This project aims to take away the private nature of archival collections by giving the public a direct view of the thousands of stored materials in Tulane’s collections.

H O R I ZO N TA L H O M E SECOND YEAR STUDIO - 2022 Horizontal Home aims to integrate public and private spaces by creating a student home that promotes both communal living and independent relaxation. Five angled bedrooms sit adjacent to a communal living area, forming an open-air courtyard in the void between them. Each student has a private bedroom and bathroom that they can escape to through the courtyard and cleanse themself as they pass through the fresh air and planted borders.

SECTIONAL HOME SECOND YEAR STUDIO - 2022 Sectional Home is a compact indoor-outdoor student living solution. Stacked rectangular volumes create shifts in height and a processional upward movement with green living spaces on the roof. The staircase’s tall and open volume creates separation between spaces, allowing the students to reset and leave their stressful days behind as they move up through the house toward spaces of relaxation. One first enters a kitchen and dining space; from there they can travel up the first flight of stairs to a level with a reading nook. They continue upwards to the private bedrooms and baths that are split between two levels and accessed from an open-air balcony. The final floor is enclosed and holds a sunlit indoor-outdoor study, music space, and a cozy living room. The Sectional Home is designed for five students with priorities toward both social spaces and private bedrooms.

The privacy of the separate bedrooms gives the students a sense of independence, while the open top floor promotes socialization.
