Hello, I’m Kavita!

I’m a People & Planet-First Product Strategist with focus on creating sustainable, functional and solution-driven intimate wear.

I strongly believe that lingerie is more about how it works and feels on body, than just being aesthetically admirable.

Passionate about purposeful designing, I’ve spent years understanding this category holistically, from technical designing to female body contours, sociocultural influences on user behaviour and market forces, to create products that are ergonomically sound, improve wearer’s lives and fight against the ugly.

Join me in my journey as I take you through some incredible lingerie innovations that I crafted with love and care - imparting joy and relief to all those who’ve used it !

My Approach

Unlocking ‘why’ before ‘what’ and ‘how’, I blend my experience across Design Strategy, Sustainability, and Intimate Wear to lead product innovation holistically —balancing user needs, aesthetics, functionality, and the environmental and social impact of each product.

Prioritizing "function over fashion”, my work champions women’s needs and voices in the product creation. Skilled in translating user insights into innovation and business growth opportunities, I align what users need with what business creates and how.

Proficient in strategic planning, process improvement, project management, and leading cross-functional collaborations, I own the product development holistically from ideation to launch.

As a sustainability champion, I’m always on the look-out to drive sustainable and inclusive product development in intimate wear.

ULTIMATE COOLING BRA

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

During Indian summers, temperatures rise upto 50℃ across many regions of the country. The excessive heat, humidity and perspiration aggravates under-bust sweat and bra discomfort. This issue is also persistent for women who sweat more irrespective of weather or have larger breasts.

At amanté, we wanted to innovate a bra that gives easy-breezy comfort during summers and beyond.

MY ROLE

As the Product Manager for Indian market, I orchestrated new product development from research to conceptualization, development and market launch.

Worked with the back-end design, development & technical teams based out of SriLanka to create a commercially viable product for the Indian market.

Worked with front-end marketing & sales teams based out of India to create communication strategies for successful launch of the product.

PRODUCT TESTING :

Conducted extensive wearer-trials in India & SriLanka across range of body shapes – from petite to full-figure, under hot & humid climatic conditions.

Fit, comfort & breathability were mainly tested.

Guided marketing team & creative agency, to create product launch collaterals like campaign shoots, videos, packing boxes etc.

CHALLENGE

‘What can be the NEXT-GEN revolution in bras that could be synonymous with extreme comfort ?'

This thought provoked us to innovate next-generation of T-shirt bras that are ‘oohhh-so-soft’ and almost re-define fit & comfort for women.

As the Range Lead from India, I identified this need gap in Indian market & conceptualized to introduce new-generation of comfort bras in the brand product portfolio.

As the lead designer, conceptualized, designed and executed the “Bridal Collection” for zivame.

Introduction

Bridal Collection 2016

Designed to cater the needs of modern Indian bride, this collection brings together a well thought range of luxurious intimate wear pieces, each of which are crafted to perfection.

The collection features beautiful lingerie coordinates in the colors of Indian bridal wear - Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue, Turquoise, Rodoline Pink and Pearl white. Accents of Gold has been added to lift the gem colors.

Focused on functionality, the collection is designed to complement every bridal outfit. With ultra deep back, the bra styles are constructed to suit low-back festive outfits. Available in silhouettes to support petite, regular and curvy bodies.

Mindfully designed to ensure the wide range of consumer usability post wedding occasion too.
