Swachhata Mission was integrated to realize the laudable vision of Mahatma Gandhi. Our honorable Prime Minister picked up the broom to clean the dirt and made Swachh Bharat Abhiyan a mass movement across the nation. A dream of a clean and hygienic India. Clean India Mission focuses on the eradication of open defecation all over the country and efforts have been made for the same since its commencement in 2 nd October 2014. More than 10 crore toilets have been built during the mission across the country. 36 Indian states have been declared defecation free and hence the mission has largely improved the lifestyle of a common Indian man. Some steps of action plan:● Constructing individual, cluster, and community toilet ● The village Will kept clean including through solid and liquid waste management through “gram Panchayat” ● The water pipe line had to be laid to all towns and enable tap connection to every time Household demand 2019. ● Improve the growth percentage of toilets From 3% to 10% by the end of 2019. ● Involvement of school kids in the activities for spreading awareness on sanitation, hygiene and water . Efforts are being taken in the direction of solid waste management by sending safaai mitras or sanitary workers with vans to collect household garbage door to door. These people go in urban localities with a song playing in their van urging them to throw waste in the van. They also raise awareness on wet and dry waste. The first phase of the programme lasted till October 2019. The second phase raised awareness of the open defecation system. The actions taken in this regard are building public toilets in public spaces. It also tries to stop manual scavenging that is lifting waste from hands. It also raises awareness on giving respect to such people who do our work and thrust bringing a change in sanitation practices and behavior of people.
