“Structure” 2022

This is a pencil drawing of my school, Humberside Collegiate Institute. It was completed over the course of approximately three weeks.

For this acrylic painting, I wanted to showcase the dramatic shadows cast by this group of tomatoes. The roughly textured paint is a departure from my usual art style.

This is a pen sketch of my mom napping in front of the television as my cat watches over her. I wanted to capture this slice-of-life moment, as it felt precious to me.

“One Eye Open”

This is a non-objective sculpture made of clay. It depicts a child, with a nightmarish figure of their imagination looming over them. The smooth planes make for a strong visual flow, and the contrast between the individual pieces is apparent and bold.

This acrylic painting was created to bring attention to the many injustices inherent in the criminalization of sex work. The red umbrella itself is a symbol for sex workers’ rights.

“The El”

This photograph was taken in Chicago. It’s of a subway train travelling past the Harold Washington Library Center. The colours in the shot and the strong composition make for a good photo.

“Then and Again”

This is a watercolour painting of a group of Parisian buildings. The colours mimic the sepia tones found in old photographs, giving a nod to how historic the city’s architecture is.

“Mouse’s Chair”
This miniature chair was made out of popsicle sticks, skewers, and copper wire, and was decorated using paint and pencil crayons. A loonie is pictured for scale.

“The Band”

2023

This is a mixed media painting of a two-person band that I watched playing on the streets of Chicago. I tried to convey the life that they brought to their music.

This is a depiction of a nightmare I had, rendered in acrylic paint. In the dream, I was trapped in an abandoned office building with the distinct feeling that I was being watched.

I wanted this acrylic painting to depict the details present in shadows. The subject is a person detailing a miniature car, for details to be represented on another layer.

Squirrels have been my favourite animals for years, and I wanted to paint one to honour them. This is a mixed media piece, using acrylic paint, watercolour, pen, and pencil crayons. 2022 12
