Solid Waste contact We get it! Solid waste pick-up is really important. When we don’t quite get it right, we want to know right away. The most effective way to ensure we can communicate with our service provider to fix mistakes is to have the community share complaints, concerns and ideas through fewer points of contact. In order to better serve you, we have streamlined the communication process by creating a dedicated email address that will be monitored regularly to ensure issues are addressed quickly. Please help us make the new communication process a success by sending your solid waste questions, complaints and ideas to solidwaste@coaldale.ca or by calling 403-345-1300. Helpful Hint: did you know you can actually text to an email address? Next time you have feedback for us on your solid waste (garbage, recycling, & composting), give it a try. Please note: if your cellular plan does not support MMS you may not be able to send a text to an email address.

Billing & Payment options for your convience The Town of Coaldale offers residents options for billing and payment procedures to save you time and ensure you never miss a utility payment. With E-Bill, residents can receive their bills in a timely manner rather than by traditional mail delivery. Sending bills electronically is also more environmentally responsible as it doesn’t generate any actual paper billing. Not only does E-Bill save time and reduce handling and mailing costs it also gives residents the convenience of being able to access their town bill anywhere they can access their email. Residents can also sign up for pre-authorized debit. You receive your bill at the beginning of the month and that amount is automatically taken out of your account on the last business day of the month. Included with the E-Bill is the Town’s monthly newsletter, Coaldale Connection. You can also register online with your bank to pay your town bill online. If you would like to sign up to receive an E-Bill or for Pre-Authorized Debit, please contact Taryn in our utilities department at 403-345-1318.

TIPP spreads tax payments over 12 months Our TIPP program allows you to make monthly payments from January to December each year. This program is a great way to budget and a convenient and reliable way of ensuring that your tax bill is paid. The town does not charge any administrative fees or penalties provided that your monthly payments are made. If you are interested in enrolling in the program, application forms are available on our website at www.coaldale.ca or at the town office. Contact Kyley in our tax department at 403-345-1317 for more information. If you wish to enroll please sign up prior to May 31, 2019.

32 - COALDALE RECREATION AND CULTURE GUIDE - WINTER 2019

Snow removal season upon us “Please give Town crews room to work safely. If possible avoid streets where snow plowing and snow removal are taking place, obey warning signs and stay clear of equipment.” With another winter upon us residents are reminded of both their responsibility for snow removal and the Town of Coaldale’s priorities and procedures when it comes to snow removal. Property owners are responsible for removing snow within 24 hours after it falls. When removing snow, do not place it on the roadway as it can block drainage and create icy conditions as the snow melts. Instead, shovel snow onto your lawn and landscaped areas, which will benefit grass and foliage in the spring. The Town’s Community Peace Officers will be calling on residents who do not comply with the snow removal policy. A notice may be issued to property owners to remove snow or ice and if it is not dealt with the Town can have it removed at the owner’s expense. A ticket can also be issued for not following the bylaw requiring snow to be removed. Snow Plowing: By bylaw the Town has approved prioritized routes for snow removal when 10 cm or 4 inches of snow has accumulated on the town streets. Snow Removal: The removal of plowed snow will commence as soon as practically possible once snow plowing priorities have been completed. Snow removal will concentrate first on priority routes followed by drainage routes. In the case of warm weather conditions priority may be given to designated drainage streets. Please refer to the following page for a map of the snow routes in Coaldale. Snow Route signs can be found along the high priority routes in Coaldale. In accordance with Bylaw 570-R-11-06, the Traffic Control and Dangerous Goods Bylaw, once a snow route is declared, citizens living on these routes must park their vehicles in their own driveway or on a street off of the snow routes. Vehicles not removed will be towed and all expenses for towing will be the responsibility of the vehicle owner. In most cases the snow route will only be active for a maximum of 72 hours but may be extended if weather conditions warrant. As well, as per Bylaw 725-R-03-17, the Community Standards Bylaw, citizens are not allowed to shovel snow onto property owned by the Town of Coaldale. This refers to town roads. Alleys will be done as time permits. Please put garbage and recycling bins back on your property on days when you don’t have pick-up. Sanding: The priority for sanding, when streets become slippery due to ice or packed snow, begins with 20th Avenue and downtown intersections, all intersections accessing highways 3 and 845 and school intersections.

“Please observe snow route signs and be aware of where parking is prohibited when these routes are activated. Activation notification will be issed on the Town’s website and social media channels as well as via traditional media.”
