This lightweight step was designed to be easily compacted and transported for an individual of short stature.

The stool was intended to give assistance to the individual while giving speeches at events, usually accommodating taller podiums. All of the prototypes and final stool were made using all repurposed materials, to save on costs and to support H204All’s mission of being environmentally conscious.

The Church of St. Joseph Cupertino is a Traditional Roman Catholic Church for Fraternitas Sacerdotalis Sancti Pii X (FSSPX). The project is located in the heart of the Canary District in Toronto, northeast of the Distillery District, and adjacent to the historic Canary Building.

The proposal was intended to be dedicated to the Patron Saint of Flying. St. Joseph Cupertino was believed to have elevated off the earth during prayer, the Church of Saint Joseph Cupertino intends to guide parishioners to ascension through the gradual procession of light and intersecting lines that draw the eye

to the altar. Drawing inspiration from the elongated procession of Traditional Roman Catholic Churches as well as the intimacy with the liturgical practice, the design aims to reconnect parishioners with their practice through a deep connection with material, form, proportion, and lightness.

The design intention of this residence on Vancouver Island aims to optimize the natural depression of the site, sun exposure, and views of the bay, to maximize the floor space and connectivity of the primary living spaces. The upper living level and exterior deck area creates a seamless transition by wrapping around the entrance, and central staircase to the lower level, which contains the bedrooms, storage and utilities spaces.

Douglas fir from the site was milled on site, treated, and re-used for structural columns, decking, stairs and as well as interior finishes. The simple monopitch and large overhangs of the roof are designed to deal with heavy precipitation to deflect water from the enclosure and to assist with water run off on the site.

While focusing on both productivity and expression, the design concept for the UNHCR Shelter that the structure is able to adapt over time, as the prefabricated wood frame and fabric covering act as an immediate means of shelter, while the family is able to build out the layers of the house over time. This rigid structure provides a framework to build the out the structure from the interior and exterior, with recycled materials found in existing camps and refugee ghettos such as plastic sheathing, corrugated metals, gravel, and textile fabrics like burlap.

Materials used are non environmentally friendly, as plastics and steels are known to have high embodied energy and are non-recyclable

The concept for a small, net-zero laneway house off of Withrow Avenue, came from a desire from the client to maximize the usage of their long narrow East Riverdale property for their extended family. In order to minimize the impact on the narrow laneway, and to make the project financially viable, the goals for meeting the benchmarks of minimal impact included meeting the passive house standards and ensuring that the project is carbon neutral for a life cycle of 60 years. Solid dowel laminated timber (DLT) panels were chosen for the structure, allowing for ease in fabrication and to maximize carbon sequestering potential.

The exposed DLT enhances both the thermal and visual comfort of the interior of the micro-apartment, as the wood naturally regulates the temperature and humidity of the space and reduces the need for chemical finishes.
