Student Architect, Diamond Schmitt Architects • Participated in schematic design and research for master planning projects such as the Britannia Community Centre and the Vancouver General Hospital Campus • Assisted with written marketing material and document coordination for Request for Proposals (RFP) for Vancouver and Lower Mainland projects Emily Carr University of Art & Design (Vancouver) • Assisted with deficiency list recording on-site for 26,700m2 (290,000 ft2) new campus building • Completed deficiency list tracking, preparing, and administering off-site, for sequential phasing of deficiencies lists for the interior and exterior of the building Mirvish Village (Toronto) • On project for a total duration of one year, from design documentation through to sequential tender • Assisted with 2D and 3D documentation of the building stair and elevator cores and interior residential suites • Assisted with mechanical, electrical and structural coordination • Primary scope included design documentation for the interior residential suites, as well as door schedule and details

The Church of St. Joseph Cupertino is a Traditional Roman Catholic Church for Fraternitas Sacerdotalis Sancti Pii X (FSSPX). The project is located in the heart of the recently re-developed Canary District in Toronto, northeast of the Distillery District. The site is adjacent to the historic Canary Building. Dedicated to the Patron Saint of Flying, of whom was believed to have elevated off the earth during prayer, the Church of Saint Joseph Cupertino intends to guide parishioners to ascension through the gradual procession of light and intersecting lines that draw the eye to the altar. Drawing inspiration from the elongated procession of Traditional Roman Catholic Churches as well as the intimacy with the liturgical practice, the design aims to reconnect parishioners with their practice through a deep connection with material form, proportion, and lightness.

INWOOD HOUSE TYPOLOGY: RESIDENTIAL DATE: JANUARY 2017 - APRIL 2018 MEDIUM: REVIT 2017, AUTOCAD 2016 LOCATION: 11007 INWOOD ROAD, NORTH SAANICH, BRITISH COLUMBIA PROJECT SCOPE: SCHEMATIC DESIGN, COMPLETION OF PERMIT DRAWING PACKAGE, REVISION OF CONSTRUCTION DRAWING PACKAGE UP UNTIL OCCUPANCY

The project is located in the municipality of North Saanich on Vancouver Island. It sits inland from Swartz Bay by just over 100m to the west, and is roughly 25m above sea level. The site is located in a semi-rural neighbourhood and has a view of Swartz Bay, which is a key transportation terminal between the mainland and the island. The design intention of the residence optimizes the natural depression of the site, sun exposure, and views of the bay, to maximize the floor area and connectivity of the primary living spaces. The upper living level and exterior deck area creates a seamless transition by wrapping around the entrance, and central staircase to the lower level, which contains the bedrooms, storage and utilities spaces. Douglas fir from the site was milled on site, treated, and re-used for structural columns, decking, stairs and as well as interior finishes. The simple mono-pitch and large overhangs of the roof are designed to deal with heavy precipitation to deflect water from the enclosure and to assist with water run off on the site.

The project aims to maximize the preservation of the archeological ruins of the existing stone foundations of the First Parliament Buildings of Upper Canada from 1797, located on the site bounded by Berkeley Street, Front Street East, Parliament Street, and Parliament Square Park. The solution to preserving the extents of the 60 meter long excavated site area was to utilize a 6 meter deep glulaminated timber space-frame of which can span across the ruins, with minimal penetration. Steel exhibition platforms are suspended from tensile rods within the frame of the glulam structure. The exposed structural frame and transparent facade reflects upon the first Parliament building which used to stand in it’s place, and draws public attention to this prominent heritage site.

A lightweight, portable step that is easily compacted and transported. The step was designed personally for a client of short statue and was intended to give assistance to the individual while giving speeches at events. The step is made of re-purposed solid oak with stainless steel hinges and a polyester strap. i. Stool in unfolded position, ready for use. ii. Legs collapse, knotches unslot from grooves in platform. iii. Legs rotate 120 degrees, and align with fixed leg. iv. Aligned legs fold so they meet parallel with the platform. v. Fabric strap clamps the leg ends in place, by clicking to a fixed button on the underside of the platform. vi.
