We look forward to seeing everyone Spanish Fork, Utah for this year’s National Sale! NATIONAL SHOW & SALE INDEX OF ADVERTISERS 3 Vol. 68 - No. 1
Time flies when you are having fun! Almost at the half year mark and most of us are done lambing. Now we are looking at those ewes and our stud bucks for this year’s fall and 2025 spring lambs. How many of you look at all the information that’s out there? There are multiple universities that have great information to share. Plus, other organizations that offer workshops from pre and post lambing, feeding, shearing, how to sell your wool or lambs plus marketing. Please just don’t look at one place for your all your needs. Let yourself go down those rabbit holes and you would be surprised on what you can learn or just refresh your mind.
I know some of us are getting ready to head to Spanish Fork Utah for our National Show and Sale. This is a great place to add that stud buck or foundation ewe. This is such a great experience for anyone who can come. Every year there is something new and different. Yes, there is the Jr members with their team fitting, ice cream social, yard games, Jr outing, Jr futurity come back, membership meeting Jr and Sr, the show, banquet and the sale. All these events are jam packed in 4 days. No wonder we are all exhausted at the end! Each one of these is a good time but when you put it all together it goes to the next level. Just think of all the memories that we will make. I know the National Show and Sale committee try and offer some new experience. Some years the committee would like to show something different like about wool or production or A.I. They never want to show the same thing twice.
As President, I would like to congratulate the few rams that made that very difficult grade of certified ram. I’m not too sure how many of you look at how difficult it is for a ram to make it the grade. Some rams get so close but just can’t make it over the finish line. I’m so happy to see that there are more breeders trying to see how their breeding stacks up in this way.
Consignors and advertisers did a great job in getting entries and ads in for this SOC. Printing the SOC on time, in my opinion, comes down to us doing our job! Last year at the annual membership meeting we talked about the SOC. We explained how it does not always break even. We need those ads to cover the cost. Ads take time to design and have it approved by the advertiser. We also explained that if you have an ad ready there is no added cost. But if the publisher needs to build the ad there is a cost that comes along with the service. I encourage you all not to wait until the last minute to submit your ads so we meet the print date. As your information comes in, we can start to build the SOC. The BOD knows the most important date to hit is April 15! If all the information to the publisher and we can have a quick turnaround to you. This is the only issue we pay for first class mail, not bulk like the rest of the issues. Living on the east coast, it seems like I’m one of the last to get my issue.
Last item if you cannot make it to Spanish Fork you can still watch the Annual Membership Meeting on June 6th at 5pm MST. Please reach out to our Breed secretary Charlie Worm to get the invitation for this year’s Annual Membership Meeting. You must be a 2024 paid member. Please contact him by May 30 so you can get the password for the meeting.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there in Spanish Fork!

4 LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
We’ve had a great turnout for advertising this issuethank you to all that chose to advertise and support Speaking of Columbias! As Steve mentioned in his president’s message, we’re focusing on getting the issues out in a timely manner, which starts with me - I appreciate all of you that were so great to work with!
As with previous years, I’ll be available at the National for photos and if you’d like to chat about Speaking of Columbias I enjoy taking candid ring shots throughout the day, and of course working with exhibitors at the back drop. I’ll also be tracking down some members for future spotlight photos - I always have fun with that! If you would like to do some specialty photos while I’m there, don’t hesitate to reach out and we can work out a time. Remember, photos can be viewed on my website www.kakimages.com after the show.
I don’t get a ton of chances to visit the western US so I’m really looking forward to doing some sightseeing and enjoying the NSS trip. See you in Utah!

169 consignments for the 2024 NSS! Those numbers are fantastic! This is shaping up to be a great National Columbia Show and Sale! Thank you consignors for submitting entries by April 15th. Consignors and breeder advertisers benefit when the SOC is online and in print as soon as possible. You know how everyone wants to study the sale catalog! Thanks again, consignors!
Each year, I analyze and compare past NSS. These numbers support the Board’s ongoing decision to host our own breed National Show and Sale. In the end, the number of sheep that sell is the key to success. Online bidding and purchasing will continue to bolster sales. Members can find all the details of this 2023-2016 analysis (income, expenses, profit) on the Members Only website.
Natural Colored Columbias are having a moment! NC are coming to Spanish Fork in numbers we have not seen before. I am guessing more time will be dedicated to the NC show now and in the future. NC registrations are up as well.
White Columbia registrations are strong too. Columbia sheep, in general, are having a moment.
The National has an amazing list of sponsors. Every open and junior show award is sponsored. Local businesses have donated to help cover costs. The first bedding of wood chips is being donated for all the pens. Please take a moment to thank those sponsors.
This NSS is being hosted by the Jarvis Family. Sandy and Matt gone above and beyond. Matt and Lee will take us on a tour of the Jarvis Ranch on Wednesday afternoon, June 5th. This is a tremendous opportunity to see a part of the legacy of the CSBA.
Notice that the futurity fee has changed for consignors of ewe lambs to the NSS and approved sales. It is simplified--$35 for each ewe lamb nominated at the National and $50 for each at the approved sales (online or otherwise.)
SECRETARY’S MESSAGE 6 SPEAKING OF COLUMBIAS
Another BIG, BIG, BIG thank you goes to Steve Hampson, the CSBA President. Steve will finish up another year as Board Chairperson. Thanks to Steve for his attention to handling the “tough stuff.” A great deal has been achieved in the years he has been the Board Chair.
Finally, I look forward to my trip out west. I hope you can plan for a little extra time to take in the national parks near Spanish Fork.

1/2 sister was reserve ewe at the 2023 NAILE for the Arthur family. If you like females that are easy fleshing, good footed, and carry great bloodlines. 23-46 deserves your attention. Remember behind every big buck is a foundation female! This ewes potential.

46 SPEAKING OF COLUMBIAS
THE HISTORY OF SPANISH FORK
Two Catholic Franciscan Friars were among the earliest explorers to document their visit to the area in the mid-1770s. Until then, the region was only known to the Indigenous, nomadic populations in the area. The name Spanish Fork was adopted in 1845 because of the fork, or two routes, traveled by tribes that followed the canyon and/or the river in search of food, especially fish.
By 1850, a few pioneer families settled along the Spanish Fork River. Mormon settlers built a fort to support the immigrant population and to establish a hub for Mormon followers. In 1855, the first permanent Icelandic settlers in the US came to the area. Other nationalities also came at a similar time. Those newcomers were of Irish, English, Scottish, Welsh, and Scandinavian backgrounds.
At the turn of the century, the area was home to prosperous farms and food-production industries. Agriculture, especially livestock production, was the heart of the economy. Agriculture continues to be important but today technology and defense-related industries are prominent employers too. These jobs are specialized, “white collar,” and high paying. These jobs play a key role in the economic climate of the area.
Today the city of Spanish Fork boasts a population of slightly over 45,400. The city has grown quickly over the past few decades. Residents are well educated and youthful with a median age of about 30 years. The area is faith filled and more than 90% of its population belong to the Church of Latter-Day Saints.
Spanish Fork is part of a multi-city region that includes Springville, Mapleton, Payson, Salem, and Palmyra. City limits are hard to distinguish since the towns have merged over time. Spanish Fork is about 60 miles south of Salt Lake City and only about 10 miles south of Provo, Utah. It is considered part of the Provo-Orem area.

SUPER EWE PROGRAM BEING CONSIDERED
Do you have the kind of ewe that twins every year, and her lambs are keepers? A program is being considered to recognize that kind of ewe in your flock. The ewe will receive a point each time she produces a lamb registered with the Columbia Sheep Breeders. After earning four (4) points, the ewe can receive Super Ewe designation on her registration papers.
The producer will provide the ewe’s registration information and her offspring’s registration data to the CSBA office. After verification, the ewe will be issued registration papers with Super Ewe designation. This designation will appear on the extended pedigrees of her progeny.
Contact any member of the Production Committee; Scott Bredahl, Matt Jarvis, Steve Hampson, Ashlie Chase, Dave Pearson, or (chair) Ron Brandt to share your thoughts. Your input will be helpful as the committee considers the program.

UPDATE ON THE 2023-2024 RAM TEST
was a successful year for Columbia Breeders who entered rams on the Hettinger and Wyoming Ram Tests. The Hettinger Research Extension Center welcomed 14 rams to the new facilities on the farm. Rams were consigned by Luke and Nina Steinmetz, Loni Blackman, NDSU – Fargo, Charles and Louise Worm, Timber Coulee Columbias - Luanne Wallewein, Faith Gasvoda, Geneva Hills Farm and the Hettinger Research Extension Center. Three rams on this test were awarded Certified Ram Status. Timber Coulee (Luanne Wallewein) bred and raised 2 certified rams. Timber Coulee 546 and 82 will be the 16 and 17th certified Columbia ram. Outstanding accomplishment for a longtime Columbia Breeder. Congratulations. Faith Gasvoda had the other Certified ram. Her ram Gasvoda 3121 earned that acclaimed status. This is Faith’s second certified ram in three years.
Full results can be found at https://www.ndsu.edu/agriculture/ag-hub/research-extension-centers-recs/hettinger-rec/research/dakota-fall-ram-test
There were seven Columbia rams entered on the Wyoming Ram Test. Breeders Russell and Kathy Bell and Caroline Frampton enrolled rams on the test. Two rams floated to the top and achieved the Columbia Standard. Both were raised by the Bell family. Russell has been consistent in raising rams that excel on the Wyoming Test. The two rams are Bell B0941/B264 and Bell B1079/Y8599.
Full results and data can be found on our website under the production tab. Pictures are being posted as they come in from the breeders. Pictures of the Timber Coulee rams were not available at press time.

Breeder Spotlight GEERTS FAMILY
It reads a bit like a Hallmark movie. Boy meets girl and they become high school sweethearts. Boy and girl break up only to reconnect later. They were married, set up residence in the countryside, and began to raise a family. If you are a Hallmark movie fan, you know how the narrative goes. For many in the Columbia sheep family, you saw the script being written. It is the three-generation story of Geerts Family Columbias.
Mike and Marna Geerts are lifelong residents of Morrison, Illinois. Yes, the two were highschool sweethearts. Each pursued similar careers as teachers. Mike taught industrial arts and Marna was an elementary teacher. They settled in at their first farm and decided it was the perfect place to raise a family—and some sheep! Columbia sheep were introduced to the farm in 1984 when Manda was two and Jeremey was an infant. They moved up the hill in 1989 where they had more land and barn space and increased their flock.
The first Columbias were purchased when Scott Miess, from Sibley, Illinois, sold his flock. Mike and Marna were anxious to learn more about the breed. They attended sales and became acquainted with other Columbia breeders. Mike recalls his visit with Jack Wilson at Wilson’s Holiday Farm. It was a chance to learn from a premier Columbia breeder. The same was true when meeting Dave and Mary Troxel. Both Wilson and Troxel genetics were used to complement their foundation ewes.
Mike and Marna attended their first National Columbia Show and Sale in 1985 at Minot. Marna remembers how cold it was. Three-year-old Manda and one-year-old Jeremey were left home with family. From then on, the kids went with them. They have only missed two nationals since 1985. They missed the first Spanish Fork NSS but won’t miss it in 2024.
After teaching school for more than 35 years, Marna retired in 2014 and Mike in 2016. They still reside on their acreage in Morrison. The current flock has forty white Columbias brood ewes, nine natural colored brood ewes, including several purebred NC Columbias, and a dozen Southdowns. However, the location of the Geerts family and flock is about to change!
Daughter, Manda (Davis), and her husband J.D., live one and one-half hours to the east of Morrison in Hinckley, Illinois. Manda is a speech/language therapist in the Hinckley-Big Rock School District—keeping education in the family. Manda has been teaching since 2006, which was shortly before she and J.D. were married. J.D. owns a growing business that specializes in trailer service and repairs. He does a great deal of work on campers and livestock trailers as well as hitch installation. Grandkids, Morgan-13, and James-10 are busy kids in the Hinckley-Big Rock school district.
56 SPEAKING OF COLUMBIAS
As Manda says, “The Hinckley area offers a range of opportunities for the kids in a rural setting. They can be in all the sports and clubs, because everyone is needed in a small district. They can be involved with agriculture and experience the work ethic that goes with it. We have a growing 4-H and FFA program.”
The Davis farm has almost 17 acres, which allows for adequate hay ground and pasture for the sheep. As mentioned, the Davis family is preparing for a big transition. In fact, this article is letting the proverbial “cat out of the bag!” Geerts Columbias is moving to Hinckley—including Mike and Marna! A barn for the sheep is being built so all the Columbias can move to Hinckley. An address change for Mike and Marna will follow so the youngest generation can learn from them as they take over the day-to-day operation. It is an exciting time for the Geerts and Davis families.
Jeremey and his family are located in Indiana. Jeremey is the territorial manager for Spraytec a global company that specializes in agricultural products used to improve plant health and nutrition. The five kids are being set up for success in the livestock business with Southdowns, Shropshires, Dorsets, and goats.
The Geerts family has many proud and happy moments as CSBA members. They are proud of their success in the Columbia show ring and Manda’s growing business in selling locker lambs and, most recently, the sale of Columbia fleeces. Manda says it is hard to top the memory of selling the high-priced ewe at the 2021 NSS. Cortney Copeland became the ewe lamb’s proud owner, and that ewe was established as the “one to beat” through the next year. Natural Coloreds are a fun addition to the flock. A few years ago, a natural-colored lamb showed up by pure luck. James will tell you he is “digging the blacks” and so is Mike. Last year they purchased their first natural colored lamb at the NSS.
Mike served on the CSBA Board of Directors from 2006 to 2023. He was a member of the Audit/Budget Committee. He focused on recapturing the financial stability of the CSBA and creating financial transparency for members. Mike worked to build the CSBA futurity program which evolved as the model for most other purebred associations.
Manda was the Junior Association Advisor from 2005 to 2018. Those were formative years for the Juniors. She can be credited with the organizational format that is still in effect today. Today, Manda continues to be a member of the Youth Support Committee and mentor to the Junior officers.
The Davis/Geerts families agree the NSS is like a family reunion. It is a wonderful time to catch up with lifelong Columbia friends. Surely, they have a lot to share with everyone this June. A trip to the NSS also allows for a family vacation. Mike says, “We are one of the weird ones. We drop off the sheep and go see the sights.” 2024 will be no different as they travel the Utah Parks Loop. The NSS creates special memories for Geerts Columbias!

SIX SUCCESSFUL YEARS OF THE STARTER FLOCK PROGRAM
The success of anything is dependent on the involvement of people around the program. This is the sixth year of the Columbia Sheep Breeders Starter Flock Program. With the support of our members, the CSBA has given away 8 flocks with the 9th flock to be awarded in Spanish Fork this June. This year we had narrowed down the field to three qualified applicants from the West Coast to the Midwest and Southern US. The selection committee chose a well-qualified candidate who will be announced at our annual meeting.
Again, the success of this program is the recipients but also members who have contributed sheep to the program. This year two former Starter Flock Recipients, Zane Van Horsen and Brendan Murphy will be donating females back to the program.
The Starter Flock Program is open to anyone who has not been a Columbia sheep senior or junior member in the past. Applications are due March 1st. The Board of Directors will select a recipient by April 1st to be announced in the sale issue of Speaking of Columbias magazine. The recipient will receive one (1) ewe lamb, one (1) yearling ewe and one (1) brood ewe. The ewes will be donated by current CSBA members. The ewes will be registered in the Columbia Sheep Breeders Association and will have at least a QR status. The CSBA will assign a mentor who will be available to answer questions and provide advice to the recipient. The mentor will be a current (paid) CSBA member. The winner must be present at the National Show and Sale to receive the flock. At that time, the winner will be awarded the ewes and receive a $500 voucher to use toward the purchase of a ram at the National Show and Sale. In the second year, the CSBA will provide a $250 voucher for the purchase of any Columbia sheep at the following National Sale. In year five (5), the recipient must support the program with the donation of a female from their flock of any age or provide a monetary donation of $500 which would be used for the purchase of a female for the starter flock program out of the National Sale that year. The recipient must maintain their CSBA membership and registrations for five years. In the first five years if the recipient finds it necessary to liquidate their Columbia flock or cannot maintain them, he/she must notify the Association.
For an application or more details, please visit our website at https://columbiasheep.org/ starter-flock-2/
If you would like to donate females or money to the Starter Flock Program, please email David Brown at genevahillsfarm@gmail.com or Charlie Worm at charliew@extendedag. com

CSBA AMBASSADOR CANDIDATES
PAIGE ANDERSON - CANDIDATE FOR CSBA AMBASSADOR
My name is Paige Andersen. I am 17 years old and currently residing in Bonney Lake, Washington. I am currently the only registered youth producer of Columbia sheep in Washington State. I am a new producer, with my flock of 2 ewes that I purchased in September of 2023. This purchase came months after meeting Zan Van Horsen at a local farm we were assisting on. Zane displayed her love for Columbia sheep, wholly, and after seeing her Columbia’s, I fell in love. I assisted Zane at the Washington State Fair in September of 2023, fitting, showing, and speaking about Columbia’s solidified my love for them. I currently run an Instagram account for my Columbia’s, and albeit small I am frequently asked about my very large sheep by friends, followers, and family. And I am more than happy to respond and invite them to the FFA shows I do with my sheep. I will be working with Zane further this year to breed my ewes and further my Columbia production journey.
I want to become an Ambassador for the Columbia Sheep breed because of the scarcity of Columbia producers, this is a problem I see not only in Washington but across the country. Columbia sheep are beautiful and deserve to be appreciated more. Columbia sheep are animals that I am passionate about. And I want to share my passion for Columbia’s, not only with other producers but with other people across the country! Advocating for Columbia’s is a desire of mine. With “abnormally” large sheep, I find myself doing that a lot! Whether that is at 4-H or FFA events, with family, or even locally, I speak about my devotion for my gentle giants. I will continue to foster and encourage youth interested in Columbia sheep. And I will display my ewes at a minimum of 2 county fairs, and state fairs throughout the year, where I will speak about Columbia sheep as well as display informational posters and trifolds to further public knowledge. This is why you should consider me to be a Columbia sheep ambassador. Thank you.
ADDISON BUSINGER - CANDIDATE FOR CSBA AMBASSADOR
Hello, my name is Addison Businger. I am 19 years old and I reside in Bluffton, Ohio. I am currently a freshman, soon to be sophomore, at Purdue University majoring in the veterinary technician/nursing program. Along with my schooling, I work in two different veterinary clinics. Once I aged out of 4-H, I completed 10 years of being a member and showed Columbias each year. I am currently a junior member of the National Columbia Association and a member of the Ohio Columbia Association.
My grandparents, Dave and Esther Sherrick, have been raising purebred Columbias for over 50 years. My mom, Pam Businger, showed Columbias throughout her 4-H career. She, along with my brother and myself, have continued to help my grandparents with their flock. I grew up around Columbias and started
64 SPEAKING OF COLUMBIAS
showing them before I was in 4-H. Over the years, I have enjoyed showing Columbias more and more. In the year of 2023, I started to become more involved in different shows besides my county fair. I can say that it was the best decision ever! I love competing against my fellow Columbia breeders.
I would like to be the next Columbia Ambassador because that allows me the chance to promote my breed. When I served as the Ohio Columbia Ambassador in the years of 2022 and 2023, I had a fun time doing it! I enjoyed promoting the breed, meeting new people, and trying to get others involved with them. Also, being the ambassador gives me another opportunity in addition to showing to get involved. I plan on attending the 2024 National Show and Sale in Spanish Fork, Utah and look forward to meeting you all there!
ALYSTON GULL - CANDIDATE FOR CSBA AMBASSADOR
Hello, I am Alyston Gull. I am the 2023-2024 National Columbia Ambassador. I was born and raised in the great state of Utah and from the small town of Tooele. I have been around livestock for as long as I can remember. When I was three, when I would follow my mom and Grandpa around the barnyard. I would feed the bummer lambs and travel to different places to show, and meet different livestock people from across the U.S.
From May to August, I spend my summer showing market lambs and goats at livestock shows and jackpots with my older cousin Reagan and my little cousin Dallee. During the time I am not showing, I am part of our FFA or at the baseball field as manager. My Ag advisor, Mr. Bevan, and even people in our county call me the sheep queen because I can spit out a lot of sheep facts.
I would love to become the 2024-205 Ambassador because I had the opportunity to meet amazing people and make many new friends from the sheep industry. I would like to continue informing people about Columbia sheep and the National organization. I believe it is the best community of people in the purebred sheep business. We have some of the best people raising this outstanding breed. Thank you for the past year and I look forward to the next year.
HAILEE LUIZ - CANDIDATE FOR CSBA AMBASSADOR
Hi, my name is Hailee Luiz and I am interested in being the 2024 National Columbia Ambassador. I am a 15-year-old freshman and live near the California/Oregon border on a small ranch. I have had my own Columbia ewes since I was three years old, and I have continued to improve my flock every year. I currently have 4 Hamp ewes and their lambs as well as 5 brood ewes, 2 yearlings, 5 ewe lambs, and 2 ram lambs in my Columbia flock. I bought ewes at both the 2019 and 2022 National Columbia Show & Sale to help improve my flock.

HAILEE LUIZ - CANDIDATE FOR CSBA AMBASSADOR (CONTINUED)
Over the past year, I have done a lot to help promote wool and wool sheep at the county, state, and national levels. I exhibit a string of Columbia sheep at two to three district/county fairs in my area every year.
Last year, I sewed a wool outfit that I modeled at the county Fashion Review and then went on to win the California State 4-H Fashion Review in the wool category. I then participated in the California State Fair Lads and Ladies Lead Line competition with the same outfit and my Columbia yearling ewe Coral who I showed at the National Columbia show in Wyoming. I was excited to combine two things I am passionate about, sewing and my sheep, in that competition. I was extremely surprised when I found out that not only was I the only contestant who sewed my outfit, but I was the only one modeling with a wool sheep. I spent about an hour and a half refitting my ewe once I reached Sacramento for the state fair and I realized how few people understood what I was doing when carding and hand-blading. I later found out from a fellow exhibitor that I had the only wool sheep at all the California Junior State Fair. I hope to continue doing competitions like that so wool sheep can still be represented at those events.
After the State Fair, I entered my wool outfit in the California State Make It With Wool Contest and I won the junior division, qualifying for the national competition, which was held at the American Sheep Industry convention in Denver, Colorado this past January. This contest provided me with many opportunities to talk to people in the sheep industry. One thing that set me apart from the other contestants was that I had my own flock of wool sheep as my inspiration to do the contest. Although I did not place this year, I plan on making a new outfit so I can continue to promote sheep and wool at the state and national levels.
Besides everything I do with sheep, I am also very involved with 4-H and FFA. I have been in 4-H since I was five. For the last two years, I was on my county 4-H Vet Science Team and placed high team and high individual at UC Davis Field Day. I also show meat goats, dairy goats, and dairy cattle in 4-H. My sheep project has been transferred to FFA. In FFA, I am on the livestock judging and public speaking teams, and I made it to regionals in creed recitation. For the past year, I have been unable to participate in sports due to a knee injury, but I plan on playing volleyball, basketball, and track next year. I am also taking classes at my local community college because I hope to graduate high school with my AA degree. Out of all the things I do, my Columbias have been my longest-standing project, and I would love the opportunity to represent the Columbia Sheep Association at a national level as an ambassador.

CORTNEY COPELAND, OH JUNIOR ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT
67 Vol. 68 - No. 1
Age: 21
Hometown: Grant City, Missouri
What are your career plans? Shepherd at Anderson Farmscontinuing to breed, raise, show and sell sheep across the country. I also have a career goal to possibly open a bakery.
How and when did you get started showing sheep, and specifically Columbias?
I’m the 5th generation in my family to raise sheep. My parents have raised Shropshires since 1989. I started my own flock of Natural Coloreds in 2012. I attended the Columbia Nationals in Ohio 2021 with my good friend who raises Columbias and have enjoyed being involved in the breed ever since.
What has been your favorite part of being involved with the sheep industry?
Being raised in the barn, I don’t know any other way of life. I would say the best part of it is the people who are more like family than friends, who are always there for you and offer advice and encouragement.
What was your favorite part of the National Show & Sale this year in Spencer? Helping my friends show their sheep.
What is your favorite sheep you’ve shown?
I bred and raised a ewe named Twitch that was kind of a firecracker. One judge commented that she was a “ticking time bomb” and other kids did not want to switch. We worked well together and won a lot of showmanship classes.
What’s something that your “sheep family” would be surprised to learn about you?
I have a Congenital Heart Defect called Simitar Syndrome and my right lung started off about half the size it should be. Typically that lung atrophies and many people have to have it removed, but mine has grown to be almost the same size as my left lung.
What are some of your other hobbies outside of sheep?
I like to bake and just started sourdough. It’s been fun learning how to use it in things other than just bread.
What do you consider your proudest achievement?
I have won showmanship in 9 states and never lost showmanship at the Missouri State Fair while I was a junior.
What advice would you give to another young person getting started with sheep?
Raise the kind of sheep you like and don’t chase trends.
