Heathland Course at Legends Golf Resort Regions 1, 2 and 3 Meeting

Sunday, July 18 8:00 a.m. Shotgun

The outing package includes: » Greens fees and cart » Continental breakfast » 19th hole awards reception » Raffle prizes » Goody bags » Transportation to and from the course

Come out for a day on the golf course at this FRS fund-raising golf outing. The Legends Heathland Course, designed by Tom Doak, is a return to the grand traditions of the game. It has been distinctly molded in the image of the British Isles links courses, with holes reminiscent of familiar links like St. Andrews, and lesser-known gems like Lahinch and Cruden Bay. Most of the holes are without high vegetation, providing a visual presentation like no other course in the area.

Cost: $185 per player (Clubs can be rented for $40 per set)

Tours Tour 1: Brookgreen Gardens Sunday, July 18 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. $135/person

Tour 2: Intracoastal Waterway Sightseeing Cruise Monday, July 19 1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m. $83/person

Upon arrival at the Brookgreen Gardens, you will take a narrated tour of America’s first public sculpture garden, still the largest outdoor figurative sculpture collection, with over 535 impressive works representing American artists. This landscape garden contains a magnificent avenue of 225-year-old moss-draped live oaks. After a deli-style lunch at Brookgreen’s Lowcountry Center Auditorium, board the Springfield—a 48–foot pontoon boat—and enjoy the unique and unspoiled setting of the creeks accessible to visitors only on the Springfield. This exclusive experience includes a tourguide sharing the nature, the tidal creeks and surrounding land, and the significant history of the colonial rice plantations that once made up Brookgreen Gardens. Understand the role of enslaved Africans in the cultivation of the rice crop. The ricefields are now home to alligators, waterfowl and osprey.

Board a paddlewheel-style riverboat for a cruise on the Intracoastal Waterway. Hear a narration of the history while you cruise the calm and scenic Waterway. Enjoy the live entertainment on the way back to the dock with a narration of Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand as you travel south to the center of Myrtle Beach. View the Whaling Wall by Wyland, the world’s leading environmental artist. Drive down the boulevard area while listening to the history of Myrtle Beach and how it became a tourist resort.
