THE BIG

On behalf of our host, Mr James Thomson, I am delighted to welcome you to Leuchie’s Big Ascot Bash 2023. It is only with the generous support of James and people like you that Leuchie is able to meet the growing needs of an increasing number of families living with a neurological condition from all over Scotland.
The breaks you enable us to provide ensure the loved ones who care for our guests can rest and recharge their batteries, with the peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are well cared for and enjoying a wonderful holiday experience tailored to their interests and needs.
As services in the community are pulling back, we have seen many of our returning guests experience accelerated deterioration in their condition. As a result, we have invested prudently in our health team, which now consists of our neuroexperienced nurses and care staff, physio and occupational therapists and enabling technologists.
Our theme for this event and this year is ‘Beyond the walls’ as we take these skills and the knowledge developed within Leuchie out to meet the needs of more people in more ways. We have diversified, going beyond the walls, to offer more support to more people in the community, enabling families to have a self-catering
holiday together and expanding our Leuchie at Home visiting service.
We are carefully developing bold plans to do even more, not just for families and guests at Leuchie but to influence the future of health care. Our partnership with the National Robotarium at Heriot Watt University is designing future care robotics, and our partnership with Queen Margaret University is supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals in training.
With your support, we can continue to meet the needs of our guests in Leuchie and ensure an ever more challenging world of health and social care is better equipped to meet its future needs.
Of course, at the heart of Leuchie is a real commitment to serious fun for our guests in Leuchie House, their families and our friends here at Prestonfield today. Have a great afternoon and thank you for all that you enable us to do!
Thank you,
