PHASE-1
According to the past escape rate of Chengalpattu juvenile home, extra layer of defence is required in the design. That adds an extra height of 3m with 6m from the Prison code of India to the compound walls with the pathway over the walls that adds the surveillance to oversee the juvenile by correction officers.
By taking the advantage of site context with contour of 6m height difference from high point to low point and with Kolavai lake by side it has the advantage of water level defence so by letting in water of Kolavai lake as a mout. It has the history with vijaynagar empire.
As the contour of 6m height gives the advantage for following the Hierarchy which makes the zoning placement on hight point of the contour. The correctional officers’ admin block placed in the Zone-1 with the watch tower on that height for the surveillance the juvenile.
The zonning of three different juvenile homes will be placed according to the site contour lowest point that makes correctional officers to watch them from admin-watch tower and schools and recreational spaces are located between admin area and residential area of juvenile
