Emotion In Work
Designing like ALVARO SIZA Residence project
BRIEF: The project was to design a unique home for a family of creative professionals. The client, herself an architect, desires a residence inspired by her favorite master architect. Each family member needs a dedicated and inspiring workspace to foster their creativity. Client is seeking to spend more time with her family.
CONCEPT: Inspired by Alvaro Siza’s philosophy, this residence aims to evoke emotions through its connection to the site and its cultural context. Siza emphasizes the importance of a space’s emotional impact, and this design reflects that with a continuous, fluid flow. Continuous flow of emotions represented by both form and plan. Recognizing the client’s value on family time, the central focus of the design is a spacious communal area that fosters family interaction. The design incorporates Siza’s signature techniques, including organic architecture, respect for the site’s contours, integration with the surrounding scenery, and the building acting as a buffer between the family and the external environment.

This innovative home design is built around the family’s daily rhythms. Through careful study of time and space usage, the layout flows seamlessly to accommodate each member’s needs throughout the day. Special attention has been given to ensuring accessibility for the family’s differently-abled grandmother. The design itself combines a graceful, curved form with a simpler roof, creating a visually cohesive and functional living space

School As a Laboratory
Sustainable School of Endless Unfolding School project
BRIEF: As Shree Shila Devi Primary School is going expands to accommodate high school students, a new primary school building needs to be designed. This project prioritizes a low-tech, sustainable approach, creating an eco-friendly learning environment. The new school will be a haven for students, offering dedicated spaces for fostering learning, play, interaction, and focused work.
CONCEPT: This concept proposes a learning environment that prioritizes sustainable exploration for future growth. Unlike home, school should be a space for experimentation and discovery, catering to both extroverted learners who thrive in active exploration and introverts who prefer quieter exploration of social dynamics. By eliminating rigid school stereotypes and introducing dynamic, engaging spaces, we aim to create an “exploratory” within the school itself. Fueling Curiosity Through Design. To spark children’s natural inquisitiveness, the school will feature a rich tapestry of variety in form, space, layout, and components. The building itself will be a giant exploration tool. Strategic use of sight lines will create a sense of hidden spaces waiting to be discovered. As children navigate the school, they’ll continually encounter new areas, fostering a constant sense of wonder and the thrill of uncovering something unexpected.

CONCEPT: The project’s core idea revolves around enticing customers by offering them captivating views from both the external and internal areas of the site. This concept transcends the conventional practice of solely showcasing external perspectives, instead providing glimpses into the interior spaces. The aim is to establish interactive zones within the site that are visible from the outside fostering a sense of curiosity and exploration.
