First of all, congratulations and welcome to the Department of Geodetic Engineering!

The Department of Geodetic Engineering is the country’s leading institution in geospatial education, research, training, and extension.

The Undergraduate Student Affairs Committee (UStAC) created this Welcome Kit to provide details about the Department and guide you into the family. This kit contains a brief introduction of the Department and its faculty, your curriculum checklists and flowcharts, the DGE AFR process, and important links.

On behalf of the UP Department of Geodetic Engineering, maligayang pagdating! Culture and heritage are sources of great pride for the DGE, and I would like to share some principles and values that the Department upholds to set the tone for your stay.

Don't be afraid to learn, and unlearn! Embrace ethical curiosity and approach every challenge with an analytical mindset. Seek to understand the underlying principles and theories, but also question and challenge them with healthy respect and intellectual humility.

Work smart. We don't take students in for the sake of kicking them out. We work hard for you to graduate. Do the same. I won't sugarcoat this--one of the best GE programs in Asia demands dedication and perseverance. Take ownership of your education by actively engaging in coursework, attending lectures, and seeking opportunities for hands-on experience. Embrace independence by managing your time effectively, organizing your priorities, and taking responsibility for your own learning journey. I'm sure you love your guardians and support group (and we love them too!) but learn to seek out resources and support when needed, but also develop self-reliance and adaptability.

WECLOME MESSAGE
5

Integrity is a core value that should guide your actions both in the program and your future professional endeavors. Uphold ethical standards, practice academic honesty, and respect the intellectual property of others. It's OK to feel stupid, it happens! But don't cheat just to save face. Strive for fairness, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of your work.

Take leadership. The most difficult person to lead is yourself. Graduation is a product of small decisions whose consequences accumulate over time. Seek opportunities to collaborate, communicate effectively, and contribute meaningfully within group projects and extracurricular activities. Develop a growth mindset that encourages teamwork, empathy, and effective problem-solving.

Develop emotional maturity. UP life often involves working under pressure, encountering setbacks, and navigating complex situations. Cultivate emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and resilience to handle challenges with grace. Communicate effectively, listen actively, and value diverse perspectives. Strive for balance in your personal and professional life, taking care of your well-being and nurturing positive relationships.

I have more to say but let me save that for your stay. If you skipped to this part, here's a TLDR Develop critical thinking, work smart, and be independent. Uphold integrity, nurture leadership skills, and cultivate emotional maturity. Embrace opportunities, seek guidance, and believe in your abilities.

Padayon!

STUDENT

& MENTORING STUDY PLAN SHEET

The student updates his/her study plan every semester. This ensures that all courses left to take is planned in a semester. This sheet also shows the semester's possible semester's unit load of the student. The adviser can properly advise to plan to change the semester of certain courses or not take some course together, etc. Lastly, this estimates in which academic and the

student will graduate.

STUDENT ADVISING & MENTORING CHECKLIST SHEET

This sheet contains the grades of the student each semester. This sheet is linked to the FLOWCHART sheet and vice versa, such that inputting a grade in the CHECKLIST sheet automatically highlights the course in the FLOWCHART sheet. It also shows the GWA for the semester, and the overall GWA.

All grade types are included in the dropdown list of choices. The student fills the Grade cell with "c" if he/she is CURRENTLY taking the course.

FLOWCHART SHEET

This sheet contains the flowchart of the curriculum. It emphasizes the pre-requisite and co-requisite courses and the seasonality of the major subjects.

The student and adviser use this sheet to visually look into which courses has already been taken/passed, which are left to take for the student to graduate, courses currently taken by the student, or even which courses are INC or acquired a grade of 5.0.

It is highly recommended that the student follow the order of courses to take as listed in the flowchart/checklist
