WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM THE MOVIE OF BISHOP OSCAR ROMERO? I learned many things in the life of Archbishop Oscar Romero by his choices, his surroundings, which makes me question our daily living and on for the upcoming election in 2022. In truth, the circumstances that happened in the movie still existed nowadays, there are still people who abused their power for their benefit and satisfaction, there a lot of innocent victims died at the hands of greedy people and there are still a lot of people who acts likes Bishop Oscar Romero, who fights for the human rights, freedom of speech, equality and so on. One that I learn and eye-opener from this movie is, “fighting for human rights.”

Bishop Oscar Romero sees a lot of reason to take a step to help people who are affected by the way of government, especially on how they treat and comparison the richness and the poorest. Additionally, by using his position as a Bishop to grab the opportunity to be a voice for those people who are tight-lipped by the government. In all honestly, until now we are still fighting for our human rights, and most people were still blinded to the action of the government. From what I stated earlier, they’re still people who act and like Bishop Oscar Romero here in our messy country. Also, I learned that most people still had a lot of courage to speak up their thoughts, opinions, critiques, on the way how the Philippine government responds to the COVID Virus.

Therefore, People will speak up if the government handles the situation insufficiency. People will speak up if they find anything holes and unfairly justice to the richest and poorest. People will stand and take the courage to fight for the unfair treatment of those who are victims by their impulsive and selfish decision. The Government is serving the countryman, by their decisions it can affect the people’s lives. Furthermore, the people have a right to critique, being vocal on the way how the government takes a lead on their country.

HOW DID BISHOP OSCAR ROMERO CHANGE THE WORLD? Bishop Oscar Romero takes a lead to fight for human rights and justice for the poorest and to the people who are victims of the government in El Salvador. Accordingly, Bishop Oscar Romero changed the world’s perspective, decisions and shows the unfair justice treatment between the richest and poorest, by encouraging the people to open up and have their freedom of speech and choices in voting for the elections. In addition, "Disappeared" persons in his nation were brought to the attention of the world. Seven comprehensive accounts of murder, torture and kidnapping in El Salvador were given to Pope John Paul II by Oscar Romero when he visited the Vatican in 1979. He is also in the lead to speak up and critique the way the government treats the people who are opposed to their decisions which leads to death in his country. During the growing confrontation between the military government and left-wing insurgency that led to the Salvadoran Civil War, he spoke out against socioeconomic inequality and brutality. Therefore, he is remembered for his decisions and actions, which make people in the world know his story, hardship, and heroic decisions that make people wake up in their romanticized dreams of reality.

HOW DOES BISHOP ROMERO'S ROLE REFLECT THE CATHOLIC DOCTRINE OF THE CHURCH? Bishop Oscar Romero is indeed a great example for the whole church today, and he should be honored. Romero is a marvelous example of what it means to sincerely follow Christ and his teachings. By working with and for them, and making his struggles his own, Romero was seen as providing strength and hope to his country's underprivileged and oppressed people.

He was a very courageous and admirable person, and no one stopped him from standing up for what was right and just. As a guide, he followed the social justice principle of preferred selection for the poor. To demonstrate the impoverished, he concentrates on the destitute and the disadvantaged rather than the rich compassion. Romero devoted his life to the church and the destitute people of his country. He put his complete trust in God, and it was his faith that drove him to continue speaking up for the poor who couldn't speak up for themselves. The poor became his inspiration and motivation to keep protesting.

The people of El Salvador have worshipped Romero for the past 35 years. They loved him passionately after just three years, exactly as they had loved him.

WHY IS BISHOP REMEMBERED?

In October 2018, Oscar Romero was canonized in Rome by Pope Francis - as St Oscar Romero. “A voice of the justice of the poor.” The Legacy of Bishop Oscar Romero is remembered for standing up for what is right without fear, he fights for human rights and protects those people who are underprivileged in his country, El Salvador. Bishop Romero was remembered because of his actions, being vocal about the unfair justice between the richest and poorest.

He did all of it even he knows that his life will be in danger. He dedicated his life to serving God, spread his wisdom and teaching, he also had a huge part of being a vocal critique in his own country in.

HOW DID BISHOP OSCAR ROMERO FIGHT FOR HUMAN RIGHTS?

He used his position and he spoke out against social justice and violence to the government. Also, he spoke out about the concerns and unfair justice his countryman experienced in the hands of the military and government. Bishop Oscar Romero actively denounced crimes against humanity against the most vulnerable and defended the principles of protecting lives, encouraging human dignity, and decrying all forms of violence. In addition, he raised awareness around the world about the people in El Salvador who had been killed and disappeared without a reason to do so.

When he visited the Vatican in 1979, Bishop Oscar Romero presented the pope with the seven detailed reports of murder, torture, and kidnapping throughout his country, El Salvador.

IF YOU WERE BISHOP OSCAR ROMERO OF TODAY, WOULD YOU DO THE SAME AS WHAT HE DID? WHY? WHY NOT? Yes. Bishop Oscar Romero died tragically by being a vocal critique of the violent activities of the Military and Government in his country. His actions are honorable and he did not stay in the dark, being blind to his surroundings. He take a lead to opposed the actions of military and government violence by his voice and actions. As for me, I will do the same as what he did in my version with the help of technology and modern things that can make it easier. Because nowadays, there’s still kind of violent actions from the military and government, most people still blinded by the empty promises but also they still waken and eye-opener people to take a lead about the unfair justice in our country. Without taking a lead, afraid for the consequences of being vocal, our country, human rights, will be doomed and forgotten. It’s better to stand up for the changes, improvement and critique the government’s actions. The government is serving the people, so when the crowd noticed something despicable, violent, abused power; People will take a huge step to protest and awaken the people who are still asleep on the neutral reality.
