The Avenue, (Multi-cultural Center of the Twin Cities) is the culmination of my Comprehensive Project for the University of Oregon’s Bachelor of Interior Architecture. I conducted a nine-month research and design project that was based on a social issue I felt passionate about. The Avenue is proposed to be a multicultural center in St. Paul, MN that assists in breaking down barriers and creating awareness of the growing diversity of the Twin Cities metro. An existing building (a historical 1912 dairy factory) was selected to design the 30,000-sq. ft. center Every aspect of the project from program development, site choice and analysis, and design was my discretion. The center features an international food market, art exhibition space, performance space along with classrooms and offices. Its goal was to create a welcoming and educational space for this diverse neighbourhood in St. Paul
This project demonstrates my understanding of the design process
