MEMORIAL DAY 2017

“Putting the Fight in the Fighting 21st District - Audacity, Audacity, always Audacity!”

COMMANDER’S

PRESIDENT’S

Dear comrades we are once again getting ready to observe one of our most sacred holidays, Memorial Day. We must never forget our brothers and sisters who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy this day with our families, Edward Romero friends and to educate our children and youth about the true meaning of Memorial Day. Take this time to help those veterans that need our help because to many of them are committing suicide at a alarming rate.

I would like to Thank My Fellow District 21 Auxiliary Unit Members for the smooth waters as I sailed on the U.S.S. Riverside. As I traveled along the district to the many ports, I am proud to say that each Unit has done they share in making our ship Susan Romero stay afloat and kept us at a smooth sailing throughout the year. Many Ports have gone far and above the call of duty in taking care of our Veterans during the holidays, with visits to the Jerry Pettis VA Hospital with gifts and goodies in hand, a barbeque was offered to all and will now become an annual event. Many units visited their local Care centers and brought Christmas cheer. Many Units held Christmas parties for Veteran Families throughout their communities. The Girl State program is always a program that each unit supports. With Memorial Day soon approaching each Unit will be getting their poppies ready so they can send them to their Legionnaires, Auxiliary, and S.A.L. members, so they can proudly wear the bright Red Poppies, which honors our current and past members of the American Armed Forces of all wars. Many Units go to their local cemeteries, in which these flags are placed on each Veterans grave. So on Memorial Day waves of flags can be seen waving in their “Honor. So again I thank you for this appointment as your 21st Auxiliary President, Continue our National Promise to fulfill our sacred obligation to our Veterans and their Families who have sacrificed so we can live free. For we must always remember“ All Gave Some and Some Gave All.” GOD BLESS AMERICA

We are almost at the end of this membership year and we have yet to reach our goal of 100%, continue to recruit new membership and to keep are members we have now. The District held revitalization on April 6th and 7th at San Jacinto Post 848 with the help of our Membership south chairman Harry Woods and unfortunately it was a complete failure in my eyes. Out of 16 Post in our district only 2 Post showed up that to me was completely unacceptable but that’s ok. San Jacinto Post 848 and Joe Dominguez Post 742 increased their membership by 20 plus for each Post. So Commanders and 1st Vice Commanders who are struggling to reach your goals we the District will come to your post and help you to revitalize your Post. This year we the “Fighting 21st” will be hosting this year’s Convention in Riverside, to have a successful Convention will we need the help of the entire District..Thank you for allowing me to lead this Great District.
