Cover Letter
I am seeking new experiences in the field of architecture and urban design to create new solutions and initiatives. I intend to demonstrate and develop my skills while learning more about the possibilities and practicalities of the professional world.
Currently, I’m a student at Politecnico di Milano pursuing Master of Architecture and Urban design. It has been a challenging but wholesome experience as I worked on projects based in various countries from Italy, Spain, UK to even China having issues that ranged from lack of an urban gateway system to dealing with contested borderlands to even conducting personal research concerning the hidden complexities of conservation practice.
I completed my Bachelor of Architecture in 2019 from Delhi, India. While architectural education provided me with a strong background in design and construction, it has also allowed me to demonstrate my abilities through practical experience. The ten months of architecture internship in Studio VanRO allowed me to expand upon my knowledge by being a part of a broad range of projects with different scales and focuses of interest.
As a result of my continued interest in urban design, I consistently sought out experiences to better my understanding of this field. For my internship, I worked with Mr Rohit Raj Mehndiratta and Ms Vandini Mehta, both architects, urban designers, and urbanists. Seeing my interest and capability to perform effective research, I was able to conduct independent research on Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) for a large-scale housing redevelopment scheme. An integral part of this research was to focus on Indian culture and relationships to not only define the route for the master plan design but also the feasibility of TOD as a planning tool in Indian cities.
Throughout my internship, I was assigned various new tasks and I consider each one of them an opportunity to learn more. Within just a few months of work experience, I was responsible for designing the master plan of an 80-acre exhibition ground in Mysuru, India with millions of visitors every year. I learned a lot regarding the planning process of a city-level public space with historical and socio-cultural importance. These government projects helped me understand the dynamics of working within the system and with the community for a positive social change.
I have always tried to incorporate and be inspired by design strategies that promote humanitarian and holistic experiences, which reflects in my projects and research work. Through my experience, I have developed strong technical knowledge of building regulations, structural design and material resolution.
I look forward to opportunities to collaborate with professionals and stakeholders and demonstrate my abilities to ensure successful project outcomes.
