Mora High School bond fails The Independent School District No. 332 (Mora) bond referendum to authorize $52.2 million to build a new high school failed. Votes were: • Yes: 1,375 (40 percent) • No: 2,064 (60 percent) The election was held Tuesday, May 23, at the Mora Civic Center. Polls closed at 8 p.m. and the results were made available at approximately 8:20 p.m. During the vote, the city of
Mora was working on a sidewalk replacement project along Union Street. While there were construction cones along the street, both driveways to the Civic Center were open. Wait times to vote were short — approximately 10 minutes or less for most voters. The Mora School Board will hold a meeting to canvass the votes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, in the Mora High School board room.

Community theatre presents classic comedy Mora Area Community Theatre’s production of “Tartuffe” showcases some Mora natives and lets them show off their comedy skills. It’s been great to be able to have graduates come back to the community and have a way to be involved here in Mora and show off their talents. “Tartuffe” is a farce written by Moliere and remains one of the classics of comedy. It is the story of a man who has been fooled into thinking a con artist is
a holy man, and how the rest of his family tries to help him see the truth before he leads them all into disaster. The show is at Kev’s Depot and includes a pasta buffet dinner. Tickets are $25 at the door on May 25, 26 and 27. Doors open at 6 p.m., buffet will be available at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.

A ‘totaled-out’ school bus brought the Ogilvie community together, creating inventive ways to support the school and students by helping to finance a replacement. Last October, an Ogilvie bus was struck by a van. The 15-year-old bus was damaged beyond repair and created a dilemma for the school district. “We are so fortunate our student injuries weren’t life threatening, but the bus was ‘totaled’ by the insur-

Belsheim said the cost of a new bus is about $83,800, and that good used buses are also very expensive.
