A Message to U.S. Exhibitors and Foreign Buyers from Duke Buchan III, U.S. Ambassador to Spain & Andorra I am pleased to welcome you to Spain and to the U.S. Pavilion at the 46th edition of Gastech, the world’s largest conference and exhibition on natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG). This year’s edition of Gastech has received the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Trade Fair Certification due to its strong reputation for ensuring high-quality opportunities for American companies to successfully promote their cutting-edge technologies to this important industry sector.

I am delighted to see a strong and robust U.S. presence at Gastech 2018, with over 100 American firms speaking, visiting and showcasing the strength of the U.S. gas industry. The United States is the world’s largest producer of natural gas, a vital energy source for the world and the U.S. In fact, natural gas supplies nearly one third of the United States’ primary energy. In 2017, the U.S. exported over 700 billion cubic feet of natural gas in the form of LNG to 27 countries on five continents and the list of destinations continues to grow. World energy demand is projected to grow by 1.3 percent annually until 2040. Gas is expected to overtake coal to become the second-largest global energy source by 2025. In Spain, demand for natural gas in 2017 grew by close to nine percent, the third consecutive year of demand growth for the country.

During this year’s four-day exhibition in Barcelona, Gastech will become the focal point for the global gas and LNG industry, with over 30,000 attendees. This presents a unique opportunity to showcase USA’s leading firms and view their latest technologies. I am confident that visitors will appreciate the full display of America’s innovative, high quality solutions in the U.S. Pavilion and around the exhibition floor. I encourage visitors, buyers, representatives and distributors to visit the USA Partnership Pavilion and meet with the U.S. firms to learn more about the latest U.S. technology and services and explore business opportunities.
