Here at Kalfresh we grow, process and sell conventional and Certified Organic vegetables on farms in four regions in Queensland – the Scenic Rim, Southern Downs, Lockyer Valley and Bowen.

It is an exciting time to join Kalfresh because we’re undertaking a landmark expansion as part of the new Scenic Rim Agricultural Industrial Precinct.

We’re building new state-of-the-art processing facilities and investing in a renewable energy model that’s powered by plants.

The Kalbar Bioenergy Facility will value-add agricultural and food waste into renewable power, green gas and bio-fertiliser.

The Precinct will also attract other leading agricultural, manufacturing and value-adding businesses to the region creating world-class job opportunities and rewarding career paths.

FARM MANAGER

Hands-on role focused on maximising crop yields on company-owned farms.

✔ Highly skilled in all aspects of farming, from cultivation, planting, irrigation to harvest, with a working knowledge of vegetable crops, pest management and soil health

✔ Strong management skills to support farm staff and assist with planning and budgets

✔ High standard of maintenance skills for all farm equipment and infrastructure

AGRONOMIST

Ag scientist and entomologist whose knowledge strengthens crop production, soil management and the non-conventional control of plant diseases and pests.

✔ Essential link between sales team and growers to coordinate cropping schedules

✔ Monitors and forecasts crop quality, volumes and maturity for optimal harvests

✔ Monitors pest, weed and disease pressure, and advises on effective controls

✔ Manages the beneficial inspect program and assists with research trials

Study Pathways:

• Bachelor of Agriculture Science

• Certificate III in Agriculture / Horticulture

Founding Director Rob Hinrichsen

FARM HAND

All routine tasks on companyowned farms including cultivating, irrigating, fertilising, weeding, and harvesting. Year-round work and primarily outdoors.

Study Pathways:

• Certificate I in Horticulture

• Certificate II in Production Horticulture

• On-the-job training

MECHANIC

Requires a broad skill set to maintain highly customised farming and automated processing machinery, and heavy vehicles.

✔ Responsible for regularly tuning machinery and actively responding to breakdowns

✔ Diagnosing faults, dismantling and repairing engines, transmissions, and mechanical parts

FITTER & WELDER

Skilled in diagnosing faults, fitting and welding metal parts to repair and construct farming and production machinery.

✔ Precisely check fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit to match drawings/specifications

✔ Forming metal stock and castings to fine tolerances using machining tools to press, cut, grind, plane, bore and drill metal

✔ Cutting, threading, bending, and installing hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines

MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN

Qualified electrician with a methodical approach to fault-finding.

✔ Servicing and repairing large and small circuit systems, electric motors and variable speed drives to keep plant and equipment running safely and efficiently.

✔ Working proactively to prevent break-downs - when they do occur, ensure production lines are back in operation quickly.

Study Pathways:

• Certificate IV in Electrotechnology –Systems Electrician

• Certificate III in Engineering – Industrial Electrician

MECHANICAL ENGINEER (AUTOMATION/ ROBOTICS)

Helps plan, design, and oversee the assembly, operation and maintenance of world-class farming and food processing equipment.

✔ Advanced programming skills using 2D and 3D software to optimise hightech automated and robotic platforms to create the most streamline system possible

✔ Advancing the use of vision grading technology is central to this role

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Food Safety Technicians are vital and responsible for maintaining and improving high quality standards for food safety from seed to shelf.

✔ Knowledgeable of all state and federal regulations for Kalfresh products

✔ Implementing and maintaining the quality control management systems, and preparing for external audits to ensure compliance

✔ Take and send required swabs and samples for testing, maintaining a highstandard of records

Study Pathways:

• Bachelor Food Science and Technology

• Diploma of Quality Auditing

• HACCP Certification

FINANCE MANAGER

The numbers in agriculture are just as important as the crops we grow. Knowing and understanding the business metrics is vital for success.

✔ Responsible for financial planning, forecasting and budgeting with senior executives, measuring supply chain and production performance

✔ Manages internal audits, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable and procurement activities

✔ Monitors economic conditions and market trends and ensures compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements

Our People Manager helps build capability within our teams, enabling up-skilling and implementing strategic workforce initiatives.

✔ Overseeing the hiring, administration, and training of staff

✔ Implementing occupational health and safety programs to ensure compliance with statutory requirements

SALES & MARKETING

Focused on customers and future market demands, plus developing and promoting new products.

DISPATCH

Oversees the movement and delivery of produce to, from and within Kalfresh.

✔ Requires high-level organisation skills to coordinate transport teams for daily pick-ups and drop-offs of fresh produce

✔ Correct documentation is critical, including verifying loading and obtaining certificates of delivery

✔ Being the communication link between sales, production and customers orders change

Study Pathways:

• Diploma of Logistics

• Certificate IV in Supply Chain Operations

• On-the-job-training

LOGISTICS

Truck drivers are critical, without them, we couldn’t get produce from the farms to the factory and then onto customers.

✔ Responsible for the timely delivery of produce whilst maintaining high food safety standards by following cold chain management procedures

✔ Communicate with growers, factory managers, distribution centres and customers, and maintain appropriate records

Study Pathways:

• Trucking experience with Open HC Licence and High Risk Forklift Licence

HARVEST & PACK CREW

At peak production times our team swells to about 300 people with seasonal workers including casual tractor and forklift operators, plus process workers (sorters & packers).

✔ Skilled and licensed operators required

✔ On-the-job training provided for sorters and packers

✔ High volume, fast paced farming and cold room environments

✔ Hours and requirements vary dependent on orders, crops and seasons
