Who We Are

High Point Academy awakens the joy of learning in each child. The school provides a nurturing environment that enables each student to flourish academically, emotionally, morally, physically, and socially. The challenging curriculum provides a traditional and balanced approach to ensure that students acquire tools for analytical thinking that prepare them to succeed in high school and the world beyond. With faculty and family support, students develop the ability to pursue and foster knowledge throughout a lifetime.

ENGAGING AND CHALLENGING ACADEMIC PROGRAM DEDICATED AND PASSIONATE FACULTY AND STAFF

• Robust literacy program that starts with Orton-Gillingham Phonics and guided reading groups in the primary grades, transitioning into literature circles and novel study in the upper grades

• Writer’s Workshop, starting in kindergarten, that develops confident writers who are able to communicate effectively through a range of writing forms, including narrative, expository, descriptive, and persuasive

• Recognition of students’ strengths and challenges to individually guide each student to achieve their full potential

• Differentiation of instruction and scaffolding of lessons to optimize learning for each student

• Cohesive math program that differentiates according to student ability and need, highlighting problem solving and critical thinking

• Interactive social studies and science programs

• STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) program in a makerspace that engages students through the creative exploration and application of interdisciplinary content

Where We Live

The High Point six-acre campus is nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains near the Eaton Canyon Nature Reserve. Our facilities include the Sandi Brune Art Center, a music room, a makerspace, a science lab, and a library. Our regulation-size grass field includes expansive covered stadium seating. The athletic court has six basketball hoops and space for volleyball. The shaded amphitheater is adjacent to a rooftop playground, which includes a climbing wall and play structures. Kindergarten and first grade have a dedicated playground with swings, a climbing structure, and ample space for outdoor games.
