Kaizen's 2020 Environmental Project Kaizen’s Management and staff are extremely passionate and committed to GEP (Good Environmental Practices). This led to our initiative to further beautify the environs and scenery at the Kaizen / Waste Treatment Facility by planting approximately 70 fruit trees. The Program’s first phase commenced with the planting of Five saplings; Lime, Orange, Mango, Avocado and Pomerac saplings. This fruit tree group was planted during the month of August and would continue through to October. This will allow the team to monitor and nurture the progress of the young trees as well to practice and fine tune our Silviculture skills.

The second phase of the initiative will focus on planting another 5 Trees; this time Coconut, Poui (Tabebuia), Palm and Pine as well as 20 Local Cedar Trees and 10- Aloes plants in between and around the first batch. The program’s secondary objective is to explore the role of Trees on a facility such as this. The trees would provide soft benefits such as facility beautification, team building, social gratification as well as engineering and security benefits such as ground stabilization, privacy, and general benefits to the staff in the form of fruit at harvest. The Plan for 2021 will be to increase the Tree count to 100 and to include Indigenous Trees such as Banga, Bilimbi, Cowa, Cornichon and the beautiful flowering Handroanthus chrysanthus as Tropical Cherrie, pommecythere and grapefruit. We have already started looking at beyond La Brea.
