ŌWAIRAKA PROGRESS UPDATE SPRING 2020
ŌWAIRAKA KINDY DIGGER DAY On Wednesday 29 July, the Roskill Development community team and civils partner Piritahi banded together with Ōwairaka Kindergarten to put on a special stormwater and building themed play session.
Enthusiastic kids came dressed in construction gear and enjoyed pretending to drive a digger supplied by Piritahi, who spoke to the children about the stormwater works underway in their neighbourhood. Creativity ran wild as the kids painted a neighbourhood of cardboard houses and played with construction toys in an interactive and sensory construction themed play area made from piles of stones, mud, sand and a sticky gloop river.
Ōwairaka Kindergarten is a big and vibrant part of the Ōwairaka neighbourhood. Their warm and dedicated staff have a teaching philosophy that supports children to learn in a richly resourced play environment, with an emphasis on embracing cultural diversity. Feel free to visit the team at 6A Dunkirk Terrace, Ōwairaka, get in touch via phone on 09 846 5476, email them at Ōwairaka@aka.org.nz or check them out online at aka.org.nz.
