Layered Strata
A layering of both community and space, this apartment complex uses 8 uniquely shaped units to combine into 3 levels of living spaces. The building itself is embedded into a steeply sloped neighborhood. In order to provide additional natural light to the rear units, a system of lightwells allows natural light from an opening spanning each level from roof to ground. The facade materials are a mix of corten steel to match the surrounding brownstone coloring as well as glass block that makes up each atrium.

Seen Versus Unseen: A Musical Unmasking
This project, whose site was focused in the heart of Fenway, embodied the ideals of the ‘seen’ in contrast to the ‘unseen’. The concept for the work came from a piece of graffiti by an unknown artist that was found in the alleyway next to the site. The project aimed to flip the notion that street graffiti in Boston should be unseen, but rather celebrated in its history and culture. Secondly, this contradistinction is represented strongly by the variance between its facades. The front of the building is almost entirely glass to allow onlookers to view the interior of the spaces and to expose parts of a performance that are normally hidden such as the wings in which performers lie.

Liber Antrum - Book Cave
Creating two environments through the use of open and closed space. The underside of the structure is shaped by a wood slope that allows for a more relaxing and enclosed feeling. The shape of the curve as well as the materiality of the wood create soft lighting. The top is built in direct contrast with bright sunlight and sharp edges to encourage academia and a more studious environment perfect for work.
