Preface Thank you for choosing fully automatic coffee machine KLM 1601 PRO. Coffee machine should only be used for preparing coffee and coffee beverages with milk.

We take no responsibility for the consequences of any misuse of coffee machine. Please carefully read the following manual guide.

Please save this user manual for future use.

Before using the coffee machine, carefully read this manual guide and familiarize yourself with the technical specifications on page 32.

Damage caused by non-observance of the manual guide is not covered by the warranty. Keep this user manual.

Precautions Carefully read and observe the following important safety instructions.

Warning Never disassemble or repair coffee machine by yourself. In the event of malfunction first try to fix it yourself using instructions in this manual (page 28, Troubleshooting section).

If this turns out to be ineffective, please contact the Kaffit.com hotline for more information.

If repair is necessary, contact service center.

The Kaffit.com hotline, as well as service center contact information, can be found at www.kaffit.com, or in the warranty card that is attached to your user manual.

Any repair must only be carried by an authorized center with the use of original spare parts.

Prohibition • Connect coffee machine only to the supply with voltage indicated on the sticker of the appliance. Additional technical data can be found on page 32 in the Technical specifications section.

• When connecting, place the coffee machine on a flat, level surface.

Please do not touch coffee spout when preparing beverages to avoid burns.

• Always use original cleaning solutions for maintenance.

• Please do not allow power cord, outlet and the appliance to come into contact with water.

Never use the coffee machine with defect or damaged power cord. In the event the power cord is damaged, it must be immediately replaced by an appropriate qualified person to avoid danger.

• Do not allow water to get into coffee beans container.

• Make sure that coffee machine and power cord are not located near hot surfaces and the cord is not caught or rubbed against sharp edges.

• Never operate the appliance at temperatures below 0°C. This will lead to its damage.

• Always wipe coffee machine with damp but not wet cloth.

• Do not use processed coffee (for example, coffee fried with sugar or flavored with oils).

• Do not use green unroasted coffee or ground coffee in a coffee grinder. This will damage coffee machine.

• Never leave the power cord dangling, you may trip over it.

• Never expose the appliance to rain, snow or direct sunlight. Do not overheat coffee machine.

Make sure that the ventilation holes are not closed.

• In case you are away for a long period of time, power off coffee machine and unplug power cord from the outlet.

• Always pour fresh cold water into water tank. If milk, carbonated or mineral water enters water tank, coffee machine will be damaged.

• Always turn off coffee machine before cleaning.

• Persons with physical or mental disabilities, or lack of experience or knowledge in handling coffee machine, as well as children, are only allowed to operate coffee machine under direct supervision of a person in charge.

Recycling.

Filling coffee beans container • Never use green coffee (not roasted beans) or coffee with aroma oils or coffee roasted with sugar.

• It is only allowed to use roasted coffee beans in coffee beans container. Do not put rice, soy beans, chocolate, nuts sugar or spices into coffee beans container.

• Never place any other objects into coffee beans container – this may cause damage of coffee machine.

• Do not put liquid into coffee beans container.

First time use Connection to supply • Place coffee machine on a flat, stable surface away from sources of heat and moisture.

• Before connecting, make sure that supply voltage corresponds to technical parameters of coffee machine indicated on page 32.

• Do not leave the power cord dangling. You can trip over it.

Filling water tank • Water tank can only be filled with clean fresh water of a room temperature.

Never use any other liquid (milk, carbonated water etc.). This may lead to coffee machine malfunction.

Grinding lever • You may adjust grinding level in accordance with coffee beans type and darkness.

• Please only adjust grinding level when grinder is working, otherwise the grinder may be damaged.

• Grinding level adjustment will only be effective after making two or more cups of coffee.

• We recommend to set up coarser level of grinding when using darker types of roasting and fine level of grinding when using lighter types of roasting.

• With correct adjustment of grinding level coffee will be pouring from coffee spouts evenly.

• In order to make high quality coffee drinks, please change water in water tank every day.

• Water level in water tank can not be higher than MAX mark.

• Coffee machine has been tested on the factory, some coffee powder may be left over.

• We guarantee that coffee machine hasn’t been in use before.

• Fill in water tank with fresh water and fill in beans container with coffee beans.

• When using machine for the first time, it will start self-testing and cleaning after power ON. • Every time you power ON the machine, it will automatically perform heating and rising and will be READY for use after that.

• During rinsing a small amount of hot water goes through coffee spout.

Preparing beverages Please follow below instructions in order to get coffee beverages of high quality.

Hot water temperature is very high – please be careful and don’t get burned.

• Coffee beans should be stored in dry place and avoid sunlight.

• Only fresh cold water should be used in water tank.

• In order to make an ideal cup of coffee please change water in water tank every day. Warm up coffee cup before using in order to get better taste.

• If it’s been more that 30 minutes after last preparation, please start rinsing process by pressing RINSE button.

Preparing beverages with sensor icon button You may prepare 4 types of coffee beverages by pressing one of the sensor icon buttons.

Recommended volume of espresso is 30-50 ml.

Recommended volume of coffee is 70-100 ml.

Let’s make a cup of espresso as an example.

Please warm up the cup before using.

Touch ESPRESSO icon.

While machine is grinding, you may adjust coffee strength by turning the rotary switch. Default settings of . strength in ESPRESSO is You may adjust volume of water in your drink by turning the rotary switch when machine is pouring coffee in the cup. Default setting of water volume for ESPRESSO is 50 ml.

When display shows a coffee cup indicator, your drink is ready. Enjoy!

Short term beverage settings

Strength and volume of the drink can be changed during preparation. After the beverage is prepared the setting will not be saved.

During grinding you may adjust the strength of your drink with the help of rotary switch. When turning , when turning left right you choose mild coffee . Default setting is normal you chose strong strength .

You can also adjust volume of water when preparing your beverage. For example, if the volume is set as 100 ml, left turn of rotary switch will change it to 95 ml and right turn will increase it to 105 ml (5 ml pitch).

When preparing cappuccino, milk cream or latte you can also adjust the time of making of milk cream by turning rotary switch. For example, current time is set as 20 sec turning left will decrease it to 19 sec and turning right will increase it to 21 sec (1 sec pitch).

Before making a portion of hot water you may set the temperature with rotary switch. Turning left you may choose lower temperature, turning right will help you choose higher temperature.

When making a portion of hot water you may also set the volume. For example, if the volume is set as 100 ml, left turn of rotary switch will change it to 95 ml and right turn will increase it to 105 ml (5 ml pitch).

Preparing beverages with ground coffee In order to avoid coffee machine malfunction, please use only ground coffee. Use of other products is prohibited (instant coffee, cacao powder etc.).

• Do not put coffee beans into ground coffee container, otherwise coffee machine may be damaged.

• Do not rinse ground coffee container with water, otherwise you may be injured by electric shock.

• Please use ground coffee specially made for espresso coffee machines.

• Please add 7 to 16 grams of ground coffee, otherwise coffee machine may be damaged.

Display message: READY. Press and hold rotary switch button for 3 seconds in order to ender program mode.

Display message USE POWDER. Press rotary switch button to confirm and start beverage preparation.

Display message USE POWDER. SELECT COFFEE ROTARY TO CANCEL. Open ground coffee container lid and put necessary amount of coffee powder. Choose one of the beverages by pressing corresponding icon symbol button.

If you want to cancel, press rotary switch button.

Maintenance The following chapter includes information about initiating cleaning programs for your coffee machine.

Correct and on time maintenance guarantees long time service of your coffee machine.

Your coffee machine KLM 1601 PRO has the following maintenance programs: • Descaling • Brew unit cleaning (cleaning of hydro system from coffee oils) • Cleaning of Auto-cappuccino unit Maintenance program should be activated when the corresponding guidance shows up on display.

Long term settings in program mode are always done like in example below.

Coffee brewing temperature In KLM 1601 PRO you can choose 3 levels of coffee brewing temperature: HIGH, NORMAL and LOW. • We recommend to set up high coffee brewing temperature if you are using light roasted coffee beans or 100% Arabica. • We recommend to set up normal or low coffee brewing temperature if you are using dark roasted coffee beans or if your coffee blend includes significant amount of Robusta on it.

As default coffee brewing temperature is set on NORMAL level.

Display message READY, press and hold rotary switch button in order to enter program mode.

Turning rotary switch, please find TEMPERATURE. To enter this menu point press rotary switch button.

Set up necessary temperature level by turning rotary switch. Confirm your choice by pressing rotary switch button.

To exit program mode, turn rotary switch until you find EXIT point of menu and then press rotary switch button to confirm.

Water hardness settings In order for the coffee machine to promptly issue a request for descaling, it is necessary to program the hardness of the water.

The request for cleaning will appear after preparing 600 cups; The request for cleaning will appear after preparing 450 cups; The request for cleaning will appear after preparing 300 cups; The request for cleaning will appear after preparing 150 cups.

KLM 1601 PRO comes with default settings for soft water type (descaling is requested after approximately 600 cups).

ECO mode (Energy saving mode) When setting up ECO MODE coffee machine will need approximately 30 sec to heat up the system before preparing beverages. With NORMAL MODE coffee machine prepares beverages without preheating.

Default mode is set up as NORMAL MODE. Display message READY, press and hold rotary switch button in order to enter program mode.

Turning rotary switch, please find ECO SETTING. To enter this menu point press rotary switch button.

Turning rotary switch choose the mode you wish to use: ECO MODE or NORMAL MODE. Confirm by pressing rotary switch button.

To exit program mode, turn rotary switch until you find EXIT point of menu and then press rotary switch button to confirm.

Setting auto power off By default, coffee machine is set up to automatically turn off after 4 hours of not being used.

This means that coffee machine automatically turns off 4 hours after last beverage was prepared.

You can adjust auto power off time between 15 minutes and 24 hours (15 min, 30 min, 1-24 hours with 1 hour pitch).

Display message READY, press and hold rotary switch button in order to enter program mode.

Turning rotary switch, please find AUTO OFF. To enter this menu point press rotary switch button.

Turning rotary switch choose necessary time interval. Confirm by pressing rotary switch button.

To exit program mode, turn rotary switch until you find EXIT point of menu and then press rotary switch button to confirm.

If you are using tap water, you need to adjust water hardness settings in program mode.

Display message READY, press and hold rotary switch button in order to enter program mode.

Turning rotary switch, please find WATER HARDNESS. To enter this menu point press rotary switch button.

You will see symbols on display . By turning rotary switch choose and press rotary switch button to confirm.

To exit program mode, turn rotary switch until you find EXIT point of menu and then press rotary switch button to confirm.

Reset

Display language settings

• This function allows you to go back to manufacturing default settings (it cancels previously set up parameters of beverages).

• Information (number of cups prepared, maintenance procedures performed) as well as language settings will not be reset.

Display message READY, press and hold rotary switch button in order to enter program mode.

Turning rotary switch, please find RESET. To enter this menu point press rotary switch button.

Display will show: YES / NO / ARE YOU SURE.

In this model you may choose one of 9 languages: Russian, English, German, Spanish, Czeck, Chinese, Korean, Hebrew, Simplified Chinese.

Display message READY, press and hold rotary switch button in order to enter program mode.

Turning rotary switch, please find CHOOSE LANGUAGE. To enter this menu point press rotary switch button.

Display will show РУССКИЙ.

By turning rotary switch, choose the language you wish to set. Confirm your choice by pressing rotary switch button.

To exit program mode, turn rotary switch until you find EXIT point of menu and then press rotary switch button to confirm.

Exiting program mode Turning rotary switch choose necessary time interval. Confirm by pressing rotary switch button.

To exit program mode, turn rotary switch until you find EXIT point of menu and then press rotary switch button to confirm.

1. Find menu point EXIT and press rotary switch button to confirm. Display will show READY. 2. If you entered program mode and didn’t choose any parameter, the machine will automatically switch back to beverage preparation mode within 10 seconds.

Information This menu lets you check information about coffee machine performance, number of cups prepared and number of maintenance procedures performed.

As every coffee machine is being tested on the manufacturing factory, you may find a number of several cups prepared in the information menu when you turn on your machine for the first time.

Display message READY, press and hold rotary switch button in order to enter program mode.

Turning rotary switch, please find INFORMATION. To enter this menu point press rotary switch button.

Display will show: VERSION HMI CONTROL. Turning rotary switch find menu point NUMBER OF USE and press rotary switch button to confirm. By turning rotary switch you will be able to see all information about coffee machine.

To exit program mode, turn rotary switch until you find EXIT point of menu and then press rotary switch button to confirm.

Cleaning cycle can not be interrupted.

Maintenance

Display message CLEAN BREW UNIT. Hydro system is being cleaned.

If you want your machine to serve for a long time and provide high quality of coffee, don’t forget to perform daily maintenance procedures.

Display message OPEN COVER ADD CLEANING TABLET. Open the lid of ground coffee container and put cleaning tablet in it.

Rinsing coffee machine Every time you turn on your coffee machine, rinsing cycle starts automatically.

If it’s been more than 30 minutes after your last beverage prepared, or if you want to prepare short drink (e.g. ristretto), we recommend to initiate another rinsing cycle.

Display message CLOSE COVER PRESS RINSE. Close the lid of ground coffee container. Press RINSE button.

Display message READY. Press RINSE button. This will start rinsing cycle of brew unit and coffee spout.

Display message CLEAN BREW UNIT.

Rinsing cycle cannot be interrupted. As soon as it ends, the display will show READY.

Cleaning cycle is in the process.

Brew unit cleaning

After finishing cleaning cycle coffee machine will be ready to work. The display message will show READY.

During work of coffee machine coffee oils gather in brew unit and internal coffee tubes. That is why within some time of use the display will show CLEAN BREW UNIT. Cleaning cycle takes about 20 minutes.

Milk system cleaning Display message READY. C L E A N B R E W U N I T. Press and hold rotary switch button to enter program mode.

By turning rotary switch fine menu point MAINTENANCE. To enter menu point press rotary switch button.

By turning rotary switch find menu point CLEAN BREW UNIT. Confirm your choice by pressing rotary switch button. RINSE button is highlighted. Press it.

Display message 20 MINS PRESS RINSE OR ROTARY TO RETURN. Press RINSE to start cleaning.

If you are using the function of making milk and want to achieve perfect quality of your coffee drinks, we recommend to clean Auto-cappuccino system on a daily basis.

Turning rotary switch find menu point MAINTENANCE. To enter menu point press rotary switch button.

Turning rotary switch choose menu point RINSE MILK UNIT. Confirm your choice by pressing rotary switch button. RINSE button is highlighted.

Display message REMOVE MILK PIPE PRESS RINSE. Take out milk pipe from milk carton box or disconnect it from milk container and put it into round hole in cup holder tray.

Turning rotary switch choose DESCALE. Confirm your choice by pressing rotary switch button.

Press RINSE to start Auto-cappuccino cleaning.

RINSE button is highlighted. Display message 30 MINS PRESS RINSE OR ROTARY TO RETURN. Press RINSE button to start cleaning. Descaling cycle cannot be interrupted!

Cleaning cycle is in proses.

After finishing cleaning cycle, the display message will show READY.

Display message EMPTY TRAY. You need to empty drip tray as machine will drain some waste water into it.

Display message INSTALL TRAY. Install tray back into coffee machine.

Descaling • Some lime scale will appear in your coffee machine overtime. The amount of scale depends on water hardness.

• Descaling solutions contain acidy substances which may cause irritation when contacting skin or eyes. Please strictly follow manufacturer instructions on the packaging of descaling solution.

• In order to avoid damage of your coffee machine, please use only original cleaning solutions.

Display message SOLVENT IN TANK. Completely dissolve descaling solution in clean water, pour this mixture into empty water tank and install it back to coffee machine.

If your coffee machine is set up for using water from external container, take the tube out of external container and put it into container with descaling mixture.

• Full cleaning cycle takes approximately 30 minutes.

• Interruption of descaling cycle may cause damage to your coffee machine.

Press RINSE button to start descaling cycle.

Once you started descaling cycle, please do not interrupt it!

During first stage of descaling put 0.5 l container under coffee spout. Machine is being descaled.

Display message READY NEED DESCALE. NEED DESCALE

Press and hold rotary switch button to enter program mode.

Turning rotary switch, find menu point MAINTENANCE. Press rotary switch button to enter.

Display message FILL WATER TANK PRESS RINSE. After first stage of descaling take off water tank and thoroughly wash it. Pour fresh water into water tank and install it back to coffee machine.

If your coffee machine is set up for using water from external container, thoroughly wash the container with descaling mixture and pour clean water into it.

Install the tray back into coffee machine. Coffee machine will automatically go back to working mode. Display message will show READY.

Press RINSE button to start second stage of descaling.

Put 0.5 l container under coffee spout.

Machine is rinsing after using descaling solution.

Every time you clean coffee grounds container we also recommend to clean drip tray.

After cleaning the tray please wipe dry two metal contacts on the tray and install it back into coffee machine.

After cleaning is done the display will show READY message.

Cleaning coffee grounds container • Don’t use chemical, abrasive or aggressive cleaning solutions to clean coffee grounds container and drip tray.

• Drip tray and coffee grounds container cannot be washed in dishwasher.

• Don’t use metallic items to clean metal contacts on the tray of your coffee machine.

• If you want your machine to serve for a long time, don’t forget to maintain it daily.

The machine will show a message EMPTY GROUNDS once in a while.

Display message: INSTALL TRAY. Please always remove coffee grounds from grounds container. Install the tray back into coffee machine. Press rotary switch button to reset.

*IMPORTANT! Coffee machine which is set up to use base tray will not automatically show standard message EMPTY GROUNDS. Coffee grounds capacity of base tray is about 75 cups. We recommend to keep track of grounds container filling up and clean it correspondingly!

Coffee machine which is set up to use base tray will not automatically show standard message EMPTY TRAY. Waste water container’s capacity is 2 liters.

We recommend to keep track of waste water container filling up and clean it correspondingly!

Cleaning water tank Lime scale deposits may form in the water tank. It is important to clean water tank from such deposits.

• Daily rinse water tank with flowing water before pouring fresh water into it.

• Clean water tank approximately once a month. Use mild cleaning solutions for descaling in accordance with manual guide.

• In case of damaging water tank, please contact authorized service center.

Cleaning beans container

Display message READY.

• Coffee beans container may be covered with oil film throughout the time of usage. It affects taste quality of your beverage. For this reason, beans container requires cleaning from time to time.

If drip tray is overfilled, the display will automatically show the message: EMPTY TRAY. Take out the tray and pour out waste water.

• Please use dry cloth or paper towel to clean coffee beans container.

• Coffee beans container lid serves to preserve coffee aroma. In case of damaging coffee beans container lid, please contact authorized service center.

Disassembling and cleaning Auto-cappuccino system

Cleaning coffee machine

To ensure your milk beverages are of the best quality, we recommend to clean Auto-cappuccino system on a daily basis.

1. Press antiblocking elements and disassemble Auto-cappuccino system by pulling it down (pic. 1).

2. Disassemble each part of Auto-cappuccino system as it is shown on (pic. 2).

3. Thoroughly rinse each part with flowing water.

4. Let the parts dry out and then assemble them back together (pic. 3).

• When performing daily cleaning procedures, please disconnect coffee machine from electrical supply.

• Never put coffee machine in water! There is a significant risk of electric shock.

• Regularly check if there is any coffee grounds inside coffee machine. You may remove coffee grounds with a brush.

Transportation and disposal • Please safe coffee machine packaging. It will be used for safe transportation in the future.

• During empty procedure hot steam will be coming out of coffee spout. Please pay attention to avoid being burnt.

For transporting during cold time of year please follow the below instructions:

Service settings for base tray and external water kit connection Example: you bought a coffee machine and decided to connect it to external water container.

Before connecting machine to external container, initiate first time power on (page 10).

Turning rotary switch, choose BASE and confirm your choice by pressing rotary switch button.

After activating this setting the machine will stop showing message EMPTY TRAY.

Fill in water tank and put the machine on base tray.

Turn on coffee machine. During first time power on the machine will automatically initiate auto diagnostics, the system fills with water and rinsing starts.

Display will show message CONFIRMED.

Additional recommendations: 1. Sometimes after connecting the display may show a message SYSTEM CHECKING or UNIT EMPTY. This is normal. Follow the instruction of coffee machine to fill the system with water.

2. It is prohibited to use water tank if the machine is connected to external water container. The machine may be damaged.

3. It is prohibited to take off the filter from silicon tube – it helps to avoid dirt getting into the system.

Attention!

If display shows a message SYSTEM CHECKING or UNIT EMPTY please follow the instructions: 1. If you are using water tank, fill it with water and press rotary switch button.

2. If coffee machine is connected to external container, make sure that the tube with filter is placed into the water container. Press rotary switch button.

3. Make sure that silicon tube is connected to coffee machine and that it is not squeezed by base tray. Eliminate problems and press rotary switch button to fill the system with water.
