What is your number one selling Kadac product and why do you think it does so well? Our best-selling product at the moment without a doubt is the Saba Organic hand sanitiser. This was due to the unprecedented demand due to Covid-19. Kadac was able to supply us with high quality hand sanitiser. This enabled us to increase our customer base significantly on the back of this product alone. Being one of the first Certified Organic hand sanitisers on the market, the product sells itself!

What types of products excite you and what do you love offering customers? I absolutely love when there is a story behind a product. More recently however, customers want to listen and learn more about these stories and product history, especially if they are unfamiliar with the brand. Our business is very different from traditional retail in that we don’t need to physically bring in the product, but rather bring it to the attention of our customers. This is very cost effective for us as a business as our main focus is on getting the brand or product name out there. Our preference is to always source the highest quality products available in the market. This enables us to build trust and loyalty and ensure return & repeat customers.

What are the biggest trends and biggest growth you have seen in the past year?

Early on there were significant increases in sales of eco-friendly products. Customers are taking more active roles in reducing their own consumption of plastics. More recent, however, customer have been requesting Australian grown products. We expect this trend to continue as customers prefer to support 26

Australian farmers and Australian manufacturers, such as Kadac. People are now willing to spend that little extra, if necessary, to support Australian businesses.

What promotions work for you and your consumers?

The two main promotions we use as a business are email marketing & a loyalty program. Over the years we maintained a priority in growing our database of emails which is now around 100,000 strong. This creates awareness around sales, special offers and new products which stimulates immediate activity. It is an easy way to communicate with our customers so that they do not miss any deals, new products and other communications. The other loyalty program is also easy and very cost-effective. We find the loyalty program is the best reward for the effort, whilst customers are still being financially rewarded.

What kind of promotions do you and your consumers want to see more of from Kadac?

extremely optimistic. We are able to manage and market many more products than what a store would be able to. This makes all of our future opportunities endless. Being an online store, this gives us greater flexibility in terms of marketing strategies and brand portfolios.

What did you have to do differently during Covid 19 in order to support demand?

Like many other businesses, it unfortunately highlighted that we were not necessarily prepared for that amount of growth. It taught us how we can work harder, smarter and longer. During this time, our business was definitely ‘stresstested’ so we now have a better handle on how we would deal with future bursts and if so, what type of products are going to fly out!

We love bulk purchasing! Having the ability to hold large quantities and getting bulk discounts works for our business. Many online customers are shopping based on price point. This means we can pass on our savings to our customers. We also find customers are always wanting to try and sample new products. This enables us to target a specific consumer.
