Hello, my name is Simon, I am a full time student studying Games Development and in my spare time I walk dogs.
I have been walking dogs for many years. I have always grown up with dogs; but working with clients for just under two years, they are all local.
I own a German Shepherd who is over a year old. She is still young and very playful, always doing things she shouldn’t be doing She is very active, and loves to be outdoors.
I love the welcome I recieve when I come to clients houses as their dogs are very excited to see me.
During the summer holidays I work a lot more because of my free time, however during the term time I work 4-5 times a week mostly evening. Saturdays are usually my busiest day as I can work early in the morning and lunchtime. My hours vary from 8-14 hours a week during term hours.
I have noticed that I do spend a lot less time with my friends due to the hours I work however im more active because of this. I also have more patience with people and seem to be more open towards the world around me.
My responsibiliteies include planning my routes and schedules before I go to the clients house, when I am walking the dogs I need to observe the animal, clean after them and dispose of the waste. Also report any problems back to the owner.
I needed to have strong communication skills, be able to walk dogs in any weather condition, and be patient with clients and animals, always show compassion and be on time. I need to recoginise changes in the dogs behavouir.
I am happy with my pay, I get about £10-£14 per hour depending on the client, I am very grateful for this as it is something that I enjoy doing.
I don’t believe my gender effects how I am treated by clients, they are all positive and grateful once I’ve walked their dogs.
I will always be walking dogs as this is something I am enthuastic about.
