SCULPTURE AND SPATIAL PROJECTS
THE SPACE REMEDIATED

The subject of my work are three spa al installa ons – forms open to the audience, composed of plywood outside, lined with mirrors and managed with plas cs(Perspex, silicon and bolts) inside. They concern issues of sculpture (the ma er of composing space) and op cs (the interplay of the work and the spectator, the impression and some spectacularity caused by illusion). Originally, I aimed to create an isolated space- on one hand very physically, sculpturally composed with plas cs, on the other- illusory and losing that corporeality. Mirrors, which the walls are lined with from inside, start to form a place, where the plas c can come into being, intensifying its effect through mul plica on. The two contras ng values- the “clear” in its form and the more organic, expressive one complement each other. We see two different types of space- the literal (sculptural, three-dimensional ) and the illusory, created on a flat surface. From the stage of concepts, to final realiza on and documenta on, I placed huge importance on the aspect of the viewer and his or her rela on with the work, depriving it of impenetrability. Inspira ons in light-art and op-art I found especially in the intensions of concentra ng spectators on their own percep on, abstractness of the form and lack of definite essence causing the purity, versa lity of the view and the message. So it is a study of the space: the way it func ons, implies us and how we perceive it. The term “remedia on” literally means “representa on of the one medium in the other” and, in general, refers to digital media. It appeared incredibly adequate to me, however: the purpose of my work is precisely to create a space of one material (mirror) to let the other one (plas cs) act in a more intense way, to mul ply those modules. To me, the essence of the work has been forming the sculptural composi on and then fi ng it into a suitable environment- the exterior shape and the effects of illusion- to let them emerge.

INDUSTRIAL FARMING (ONGOING PROJECT)

The project touches the problem of an intensive animal farming – a cause of unimaginable suffering of animals, as well as degrada on of the natural environment. “Industrial farming” consists of sculptures, drawings, collages and projects of a social campaign in public space.
