BUILT TO BE SOLID K. Norman Berry Associates Architects has been the architect of record on a large variety of projects ranging from community housing to multi-use projects throughout the region. The partners at KNBA strongly believe that the key to the success of any project is close cooperation between the client and the architect during the infancy of a project. Fully defining and understanding the clients’ needs and desires provides us with the information necessary to focus, and ultimately shape the direction the project must take. KNBA has been involved in some of the most significant local projects over the last 20 years, including the 21c Hotel Museum, Louisville Water Tower, The Galt House, 111 West Main Street-Whiskey Row, Riverpark Place, Artek Lofts, Louisville Slugger Field and The Speed Art Museum. Service to the community has always been an important focus of the firm. Over thirty civic organizations have benefited by the members of the firm that provide active and engaged membership, leadership and support.

BUILDING A BETTER COMMUNITY WOODBOURNE HOUSE Broadway Christian Church, later Douglass Boulevard Christian Church, acquired a large part of the original tract in 1936 and built their current place of worship at 2005 Douglass Boulevard in 1940. This historic structure was given a new purpose by the church to serve a new mission - to provide 11 low income senior apartments.
ARTEK LOFTS Designed around a burnt out funeral home and abandoned American Legion building in Lexington’s Historic Western Suburb, this infill housing project consists of the construction of 38 Artists’ Live/Work Loft units, a Management Office on 1.25 acres. Renovating the existing structures for the more public spaces and responding to the urban qualities of the historic site were driving forces behind the creation of an outdoor sculpture court that is open to the public.

EMPOWERING FAITH-BASED COMMUNITIES DOUGLASS BLVD. CHRISTIAN CHURCH (HCM DAYCARE) Douglas Boulevard Christian Church underwent significant renovations to enhance its facilities and better serve the community. These renovations aimed to modernize the church while preserving its historic charm, ensuring that it remains a welcoming and accessible space for all.
ST. MATTHEWS BAPTIST CHURCH & DAYCARE St. Matthews Baptist Church underwent a multi-phased upgrade to their 70 year old facility. The Church is housed within an architecturally significant building that blends tradition with modernity. Beyond its striking facade, the church serves the community through a myriad of programs and services, including a renowned daycare facility.
