Downtown Calgary, Canada hosts the largest elevated pedestrian walkway system in the world. Known as the +15, named after its relative height from the street level, can be navigated between office buildings, over streets, and through an array of shops, atriums, and public spaces. This new proposal attaches to the system like a parasite and can expand throughout the city, much like the +15 once did. The project seeks to challenge the lack of green space downtown by introducing an elevated park where one can meander throughout the +15 up to +30, where it extends over the exsiting system. There are two main axis in the system, one that provides a space for activites to flourish in the summer, with cultural events and program,and the other, a winter garden meshed between the top and bottom circulation that provides a lush retreat during cold winter months. current condition

10 Week Comprehensive Studio

The proposal identifies an existing issue within the city and seeks an oppor tunity to improve it.

The project-an elderly health and wellness center is based off the asser tion of the ageing population of Finland and its current and anticipated strain on healthcare resources.

The facility located in the hear t of downtown Helsinki, Finland is programmed to provide different amenities for different needs of user groups. The typology of a pool can be altered based on the lower need for lap swimming for exercise and the spatial mass can be subdivided and spread throughout the hall. The pools are programmed, like space, and are arranged where the most at risk users can be found using pools on the lower levels and more active users can circulate through space to the top of the hall. The introduction of half levels reduces the distance for the usersto travel to enjoy the different pools. The fluctuating pool depths and sizes become expressed through an undulating wood ceiling and provides a sense of warmth and comfor t through material expression.

Much like the Original Alvar Aalto stool, the Trinity Stool draws inspiration from the simplcities of geometry. It uses the number three to manipulate the perception of depth and skew one’s understanding of balance. The stool uses three bent wire legs that are arranged in a trilateral pattern that weave in between and around each other to visually alter the position of each leg.

The circular wooden seat is uncomplicated and floats atop the entangled supports. The stool was also design for ease of production, minimizing the parts and making packing and shipping easy and affordable.

Sand trapping and beach reconstruction over time

Infrastructural Retention

Vlore, Albania is a city with unique climatic, seasonal, and economical challenges that change based on winter and summer conditions. The Sands of Time is a two stage proposal for a housing project that addresses sses these various temporal experiences. The first stage of the project is to optimize interstitial space within units in order to foster a temporal relationship between permenant inhabitants and momentary visitors.

The guests expeditetemporary markets during summer months when the he city is thriving with vacationers. The houses are located on an ecologically ern sensitive beach that is prone to erosion from western winds and nor thern tidal drift. The current situation displaces the beach to a more nor thernn locaton in Vlore. The second stage of the proposal exists to create “sand dune housing� that will trap sand on the beach for later disbursement. ement.

The project, over time, willrestore the beach from rapid erosion by trapping pping sand initially via the strategic landscaping, and secondarily-on the sur face of the structures.
