Jennifer Yvette Nelson, born, July 30, 1971 , in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the parents of Ronald Lee Nelson and Vera Mae Cones, both from Grand Rapids, MI. Rudy, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was raised by her grandparents William and Francis Cones who preceded her in death. She attended Madison Elementary School, Riverside Middle School and Creston High School. At an early age she accepted Christ at Calvary Baptist Sunday School, where she attended through grade school; she attended St. Luke AME Zion Church, Faith Temple COGIC, all in Grand Rapids, MI, and she also attended The Well Church in Raleigh, NC. As an adult she was baptized with her children and grandchildren at Kentwood Community Church, Kentwood, MI.

Rudy was a hard worker and worked at various Nursing Facilities in Grand Rapids, MI and in North Carolina. She loved music, a good book, and she loved to cook. Her daughters said she was a good cook and could "throw down in the kitchen" She also enjoyed celebrating birthdays and would host parties for her children, grandchildren, and other family members, often including her good cooking and multiple birthday cakes. She wanted to make sure that everyone had a good time. Rudy was a beautiful person and loved to look good and smell good!

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of twenty-three years, Durran Chamuka Woods of Hudsonville, Michigan; three children, Britteny Bri’yonna Williams, Grand Rapids, MI, Aiesha Sa’vawn Francis Woods and Chyna Dae E’leece Woods, Hudsonville, MI; fve grandchildren, Daryl Thaian Malik Williams, Chace Ervin Michael Williams, Paishance Anna Aubree Williams, Daisy Dae Swain, Jamaariona Lilyski Adrian Welch; her father Ronald Lee (Etoy) Nelson, her mother, Vera Mae Nelson; three brothers, Anthony Ladon Nelson, Ronald Christopher Nelson, William (Tina) Nelson, all of Grand Rapids, MI; three sisters, Tracy Lee Porchia, Grand Rapids, MI, Donna Lynn (Joel) Vickers, Holland, MI, Julia Ann (Keith) Young, Tulare CA; and; a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
