On behalf of the City of Medicine Hat, welcome to the Southern Alberta Petroleum Show in Canada’s sunniest city! The petroleum industry has played a significant role in the life of our city. Natural gas investments continue to sustain Medicine Hat today, as they did 100 years ago when the gas was first discovered. It provides fuel to heat and light our homes and businesses while creating employment opportunities in the community. Residents and business owners receive considerable financial and social advantages from the ownership of the city’s natural gas wells. We recently purchased 256 oil wells to complement our assets. Today, many large petroleum producers thrive in this area and manage base operations or satellite offices here. Additionally, revenues from the oil and gas industry provide a significant economic impact to all aspects of our community.
