The workshop was lead by prof. Baerbel Mueller in cooporation with Lagos based architechts.

It further featured a coporation btw students from the Angewandte and local nigerian artists.

I exhibibted the photo colllection of the building + 2 texts, within the building.

This house is not for sale This house is not for sale explores the transformation of spatial intentionality, the value of unfolded potential, allowing its “being nothing”, liberating the perception and everyday use of the space to an informal architectural gesture.

The space was at a certain time a definite functional structure which overtime dissolved into being a place of relief, as people perceived it as. It had become openended with a spatial direction. I was certain that the key to open a space was to unlock it’s potential, but I realized that the beauty of the structure was in the struggle between being something and being nothing. Therefore, its value was grounded in its non-utilization of its obvious potential, but was instead serving as a juxtaposition of multiple intentions.

Through witnessing and hanging out with the guys at the shed it became clear to me that the project revolved around elaborating and amplifying the value of the particular space. The project cannot avoid being an overlay, an intervention in the space, but can be understood as part of the juxtaposition, as long as the project also remains as an underlay. This was expressed by exhibiting the space on behalf of the space, through photography and text; the space was explored in the same way that it was exhibited. Five photos and two texts were printed on aluminum and scattered around the space, freestanding. The exhibition itself dissolved during the night, and is now dispersed further out.

The aim of the music has a deeply social agenda, as it seeks to restore the harmony of the otherwise dismantled and independent layers

PUBLIC. PRIVATE

what we percieve to be a public space is in Lagos tranformed into a potential market spot, essentially privatising the public space, leaving the city as a continous negotiable zone

SOCIAL CONDITION.

due to the lack of a institutional layer, the individual is left with the responsibility for his own survival this becomes an extremely vibrant force in the city.

SOUNDSCAPE.

This in exchange is transformed into a extreme soundscape, produced by the intersections of the independent layers expressed in the city.

The relationship between city and inhabitant has been reversed, as it is not the city that sets the boundaries, but the people who are forced to do so.

This emphasizes the body as the main actor, as he is constantly forced to negotiate his personal boundary.

the architechture aims too negotiate between the charachter of the train wreck area, the overgrowing of nature and the african vibe

polyrhythms works like a jazz band, cultivating the specifik elements, while keeping an awareness of the overall direction -> the individual confronts the composition which creates a situation of constant negotiation.

as each element ramains independent, the structure ecomes porous, therefore increasing the natural ventilation The same aim is pursued through in large parts elevating the building.

brief translation Alter becomes an extension of the transistional space, the bell toweruniversitet and the space of the priest kunst_ wien. Architecture_ studio hani rashid für angewante Alter becomes the center point which connects the congregation to the transistional space of the priest wien. competition _ mathias juul frost + barberra shickermúller Alter is offset to the center axis of the congregation, nature is the central axis, while the alter supports the priest as a mediator.

The priest is no more acting as the protagonist but instead acs as mediator between the congregation and the sacred.

The sacred being gods work nature.

The main axis is a connection between nature, congregation and nature.

The mediator is located in the middle offset to the main axis, and steps down into the axis if the congregation is adressed.

The transitional space dissolves into the space of the priest, that via its geometry transcends into the buildings vertical point, the bell tower - Further acting as the calling point for the whole community.

The VO[I]X is an open platform, which leads the individual to question his personal relationship to society, creating a foundation for discussions regarding the future approach.

Inspired by Bertolt Brecht breakage of the fourth wall, as the “barrier” between play and audience – in order to push the audience out of the emotional perception – and instead constitute an in-between space for intellectual reflection on the play.

An individual as part of the society lacks the distance to be able to reflect on his surroundings. The breakage of the fourth wall serves as a metaphor, pushing the individual into a conscious relationship to society.

A building for the future at the very historic condensed main square in Vienna. IT has been the base of opposition since it was built in 18 hundreds and was called a potemkin city by Adolf Loos and since was the place where Hitler had his famous speech.

There is no absolute value. the system is therefore unresolved which keeps it in a constant negotiation

In Seoul 5 million people commute everyday, with no real awareness of where you travel. Our site is the busiest station and is an infrastructural landscape consisting of Metro, Railway and Highway in three different levels. Neglecting the people, who don’t experience this somewhat fascinating urban space. Further the infrastructure is dividing up the intersecting four areas.

With the thought of Baudelaire 1800 century character the Flâneur, can we change the perception of a space, referred to as an in between space with no obvious value. And how can this space serve as a contrast to this otherwise purpose oriented space.
