Determine where, within the curtilage of your dwelling, the swimming pool can be accommodated. Investigate whether there are any mains services where the pool is to be positioned (i.e. water, sewerage, land drains, electricity, gas or telephone). Consult your local planning authority to determine planning permission or building regulations approval is required. The Datum level for the excavation is the top edge of the pool. Determine a relationship between the Datum and the existing ground level. Detail ‘A’ is a guide. Excavate carefully, and as close to the installation details as is practical. Note that the excavation is shown square and vertical. However, to reduce dig and fill, site adjustments can allow dig to follow pool contours more closely, retaining a minimum 200mm clearance for surrounding dry sand and cement mix fill. Prepare services (i.e. water and electrics). Use timber pegs to accurately establish the 100mm minimum dry sand and cement mix bed level at four positions within the excavation (A,B,C,D). Use a whacker plate to compact the dry sand and cement mix screed. Lower pool into excavation and check that the top edge is horizontal and at a height required. Adjust dry sand and cement mix bed if necessary. Fill around the pool with dry sand and cement mix in 200mm layers, compacting with a fine and limited water spraying. At the same time start filling the pool to the height of each dry sand and cement mix layer plus 100mm. When dry sand and cement mix fill is complete, leave surrounding ground uncovered for 2/3 months so as to allow for any possible settlement before attempting to pave or finish off. At all times, before emptying the pool, it is essential that you contact Coralcovepools ◄—

Provide pegs either side of the pool in positions indicated on the layout. String a line from one to the other as shown, and position a peg to depth required at points A, B, C & D making sure they are level with the first one that you put in across length and depth. The first peg you put in indicates the finished height that you want your pool to be at (i.e. may be level with your damp course on the house wall or a point somewhere else.
