Awards have always been considered to be a big deal. Movie stars are celebrated with Oscars, musicians with Grammy Awards. Writers, scientists and economists are recognized by winning a Nobel prize.
But what about artists, photographers, sculptors, and others working in fine arts. Notoriety might come from competitions and auction prices but the ultimate recognitionof their work comes when they are commemorated by being placed on a postage stamp. Suddenly tens of thousounds of people are exposed to their art.
Our digital catalogue aims to provide a small sampling of these commemorative stamps along with several pieces of their artistic output from our catalogue.
