The Bedugul Lakeside facility is designed to function as a leisure destination within the Bedugul area, catering to tourists who desire to appreciate the scenic beauty of Lake Beratan.

Justin Antonyo
Location
Jalan Baturiti, Bedugul, Bali

The name Bedugul comes from the words bedug (a traditional Islamic drum) and kukul (a traditional Balinese musical instrument), symbolizing the blend of Islamic and Hindu cultures in Candikuning Village, where the communities live harmoniously. Bedugul is also the name of the Subak Temple, “Bedugul,” located on the southern side of Lake Beratan, offering stunning views of the hills and lake, making it a popular tourist destination. From there, both locals and visitors began referring to the Candikuning Village area as Bedugul.

The site zoning follows the Tri Mandala concept, which consists of three levels: Utama, Madya, and Nista. The Utama zone on the site is the sacred area, the Madya zone serves as the central area that accommodates the main activities, while the Nista zone is the profane area, typically designated for service functions.

The massing on the site is arranged according to the Tri Mandala zoning concept. Bedugul Lakeside is divided into two masses: the main mass located at the front and the second mass (hotel) positioned on the southern side of the site. Both masses are oriented towards the site's main point of interest, Lake Bedugul.

The first mass serves as a welcoming area for visitors and includes a semi-basement for parking This mass also features a recreation area and a restaurant located on the lower floor.

The second mass functions as the accommodation area This section includes a library, swimming pool, spa, and other supporting facilities for the resort.

Bali is confronted with the challenge of evenly distributing tourist attractions between its southern and northern regions. The southern part of the island has emerged as a focal point for tourist activities, in contrast to the northern region, which attracts fewer visitors. This imbalance primarily stems from tourists' association of Bali with its beaches. The introduction of the Bedugul Tourism Hotel Resort is intended to bolster the tourism industry in Northern Bali by promoting the splendor of Lake Beratan to a wider audience, thereby expected to enhance the tourism sector in Northern Bali.

DE HAVEN is a four-star hotel designed with an Art Deco theme. The Art Deco style of the hotel is reflected in the interplay of vertical and horizontal line elements. The hotel rooms feature prominent vertical accents, further emphasized by towering columns that create a strong vertical presence. Additionally, the columns are equipped with illuminated stripe lights that shine at night, highlighting the building's vertical accents along Asia Afrika Street after dark.

De Haven is located on Asia Afrika Street and features an existing Art Deco-style building at the front. Therefore, the hotel adopts the Art Deco theme as its design concept to harmonize with the surrounding environment, which also has many Art Deco buildings. In addition to the Art Deco concept, the hotel incorporates modern elements and local influences into its interior design. The most prominent modern aspect of the hotel is reflected in the facade of the function hall and the hotel lobby, which embrace a combination of modern and local design elements.

The Dago Home Gallery features a modern design with a roof shape inspired by the traditional Sundanese architecture known as Tagog Anjing. This house combines modern aesthetics with the use of natural materials, creating a harmonious blend of contemporary and traditional elements.

Location
Jl. Bukit Dago Utara I

The Dago Gallery House is the residence of a stone sculptor, featuring a sculpture gallery within the property. The gallery is separated from the main residential building to ensure the privacy of the occupants.

The traditional house of West Java, Tagog Anjing, is inspired by the shape of a dog in a crouching sitting position. This shape is reflected in the roof design, which consists of two adjoining roof planes that meet at the batang suhunan line.

The first roof plane is wider than the other and serves as the main cover for the room. Meanwhile, the narrower roof has a pair of sides of equal length.

ShankaraPortabel Kiosk

Selawi, Garut

BatikARS 2022 / 2023

Academic Project

Function : Kiosk

"Shankara" in Sanskrit means "bringer of good fortune," which implies that the function of this kiosk can bring good luck to both the local residents and the visiting visitors. When the kiosk is open and commercial activities take place, it adapts the shape of the West Java Traditional Houses Roof in Indonesia, namely 'Julang Ngapak'. The basic form of this kiosk utilizes a triangular geometric shape that is both stable and aesthetic, with bamboo as the material that aligns with the local characteristics and identity of the Selaawi community in Garut.

Background

This portable bamboo kiosk is a structure made of bamboo and utilizes a kinetic system. The kinetic system in this kiosk is necessary for security protection and entry access. The opening can be automatically activated using a spring and a hydraulic system located on both sides of the pathway. When the kiosk is closed, the opening can be manually shut by pulling it with hand and securing it to the floor beams.

Bamboo is a natural material known for its strength, lightweight nature, and durability. These qualities make it suitable for outdoor events such as markets, exhibitions, festivals, or other similar occasions. Additionally, this kiosk can used temporarily in areas without permanent buildings or for businesses that require mobility. Portable bamboo kiosks offer a practical and aesthetically pleasing solution for various business or event needs that call for an easily movable temporary structure. The use of bamboo as the primary material provides the kiosk with a natural and environmentally friendly ambiance

Bamboo

This kiosk features a structure entirely made of bamboo, integrated to form a triangular shape using four columns as the primary supports As a portable or disassemblabe kiosk, it utilizes simple joinery or connections that are easy to install and does not require a structure connected to the ground The weight of the kiosk is supported by the columns, consisting of four bamboo slats and a bamboo sill at the base, allowing the structure to bear the resulting load
