Acina leads Guadeloupe into Pool A gold medal match
Guadeloupe captain Isabelle Acina and Sylvia Sidney combined for 25 points to inspire a four-sets win over Bahamas which secured a spot in the gold medal match against T&T in Pool A of the 2014 FIVB World Volleyball Women's Norceca First Round in Paramaribo, Suriname, on Sunday mornnig.
Going into the match, Guadeloupe had a 1-1 record and needed a win to be certain of qualification for the final ahead of host Suriname (1-1), which played T&T in its final match afterwards and needing a win also.
But led by Acina's 13 points and 12 from Sidney Guadeloupe came from behind to defeat Bahamas 16-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-18 in one hour and 29 minutes at the Ismay van Wilgen Sports Hall to end the preliminary round with a 2-1 record and seven points.
