Girls U-18 Pan Am Cup is good to go GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, April 28, 2013. - The U-18 Girls Pan American Cup is good to go as the City of Guatemala welcomes eight teams for the competition that kicks off on Monday. Defending champions Argentina, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Peru, in Pool A already qualified to the 2013 FIVB World Championship in Thailand, while host Guatemala, Chile, Colombia and Puerto Rico in Pool B will battle for the last ticket available. After the Preliminary inquiry and the General Technical Meeting chaired by Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, the coaches shared their goals and expectations for the tournament. Guillermo Caceres (Argentina): “This is the perfect timing to prepare for the World Championship without leaving behind the importance of the event. Our goal is to reach the semifinals knowing there are very strong teams.” Mauricio Thomas (Brazil): “This will be the first tournament after a long preparation before competing in the World Championship. It gives us satisfaction to see what we’re able to accomplish.” Oscar Guevara (Colombia): “As a team our preparation hasn’t been enough, we support on the individual job each player has done with our national league. In our pool we don’t know Guatemala or Puerto Rico, but we’re ready to face all our opponents.” Hugo Jauregui (Chile): “We are well prepared with the highest expectations and our goal is to win the ticket to the World Championship. Four of our players were part of the U-20 team at Havana and they bring experience to the group.” Wagner Pacheco (Dominican Republic): “This is our opportunity to evaluate the team which gives us a chance to make the final adjustments for the World Championship next month.” Julio Dominguez (Guatemala): “I’d like to express my team’s feelings: they are excited and motivated to compete as hosts. Marte Hoffiz hands new equipment to AFECAVOL GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, April 27, 2013. - The NORCECA Confederation thru its President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz handed out new computer equipment for AFECAVOL, the Central American Zonal Association. As part of the development programs of the region and support to VIS personnel, the Executive Committee and Board of Administration of NORCECA approved the proposal presented by Marte Hoffiz to provide three laptops to each sub zonal associations of the Confederation. Marte Hoffiz took the opportunity of the second U-18 Girls Pan American Cup in Guatemala to make the official hand out to Mrs. Marta Centeno de Sajche President of AFECAVOL. “Our continuous efforts for the development our Confederation manifests with these kinds of actions with the only goal to improve volleyball thru out the region” said Marte Hoffiz. Centeno on behalf of the Central American Federations manifested her gratitude, “each time there are more championships taking place in the area and of higher standards therefore this decision is a valuable contribution to our work.”

Marte Hoffiz hace entrega de nuevo equipo a AFECAVOL CIUDAD DE GUATEMALA, Guatemala, 27 de abril de 2013.La Confederación NORCECA a través de su Presidente Cristobal Marte Hoffiz hizo entrega de nuevo equipo de cómputo a AFECAVOL, la asociación zonal centroamericana de voleibol. Como parte de los programas de desarrollo de la región y para contribuir al trabajo que desempeña el personal VIS, el Comité Ejecutivo y el Consejo de Administración de la NORCECA aprobó la propuesta de Marte Hoffiz de hacer entrega de tres laptops para cada sub zona de la Confederación. Marte Hoffiz aprovechó la oportunidad de que la segunda Copa Panamericana Femenina Sub-18 está por iniciar en Guatemala para hacer entrega del equipo, el cual fue recibido por la Ing. Marta Centeno de Sajché, Presidente de AFECAVOL. “Nuestros constantes esfuerzos para el desarrollo de nuestra Confederación se ve plasmado con este tipo de iniciativas con el único objetivo de mejorar del voleibol de la región” dijo Marte Hoffiz. Seminar for use of e-scoring sheet in Guatemala GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, April 27, 2013 – A seminar to train personnel in the use of the volleyball electronic score sheet was conducted in Guatemala on the occasion of the U-18 Girl’s Pan American Cup that serves off on Monday. The seminar was directed by FIVB and NORCECA instructor Yeivic Jimenez of Venezuela in the presence of Judith Sandino, president of the VIS and Statistics Commission of NORCECA. “The E-Score Sheet will take volleyball to the highest technology level which will contribute to lower margin of errors and making the match advance faster and with much more accuracy,” Jimenez said. “This system will also introduce in the future a video application.” Sandino said to be pleased with the innovation as “this will simplify our job and the results will be more accurate; the VIS commission is looking forward to meet new challenges.”

Seminario uso hoja electrónica en Guatemala CIUDAD DE GUATEMALA, Guatemala, 27 de abril de 2013 – Un seminario para entrenar personal en el uso de la hoja de anotación electrónica de voleibol se llevó a cabo en Guatemala con ocasión de la Copa Panamericana Femenina Sub-18 que inicia el lunes. El seminario fue dirigido por el instructor FIVB y NORCECA Yeivic Jiménez, de Venezuela, con la presencia de Judith Sandino, presidente de la Comisión de Estadísticas y VIS de NORCECA. “La Hoja de Anotación Electrónica le permitirá al voleibol estar a los niveles más altos de tecnología lo cual contribuirá a un margen menor de error y contribuirá a la agilidad en el juego con mayor seguridad”, dijo Jiménez. “Este sistema podrá sincronizarse con video en el futuro”. Sandino indicó estar complacida con esta innovación ya que “ésto simplificará nuestro trabajo y los resultados serán más veraces; la comisión VIS está ansiosa de enfrentar nuevos retos”.
