New FACES Meet a fresh new Lithuanian blondy model! Born and based in Kaunas she was pursued by modeling agents since the early days. At the age of fourteen she signed her first contract with the mother agency and started doing the castings. In just a few weeks she received two amazing offers. One of which was a huge brand show in Paris. Unfortunately, a new law passed banning models under sixteen and the trip to Paris had to be cancelled. Two more years to grow, learn and improve her modeling skills. Right now she is working on her second contract in Asia. And she is ready to rock the shows. No doubt, she will fascinate and conquer the biggest markets very soon. Keep watching!

M.A.M.A. is here! The modeling business is one of the most prestige and visual businesses in the world, a dream of many young girls and boys and an inspiration for millions. A serious business for models, agencies, managers mainly a profitable business tool to promote brands, designers and magazines. Since its inception in the 1940's the modeling business has expanded globally and today with advanced technology model managers can find models and introduce the models within seconds to partner agencies around the globe. With a large and growing community of managers (scouts) and models, the industry has become extremely competitive. The current massive competition, lack of basic rules, regulation and business ethics for such a massive and important business has damaged many within its business community. The modeling business is currently one of the only prestige and important businesses or industries in the world that does not have a serious union or association to set some basic advice, rules and regulations. M.A.M.A has been created and managed by leading experienced members of the model business so that we can all compete in a fair manner and to have a better business experience.

20

w w w. j urgita .com

M.A.M.A unites Mother Agents/“Managers” from around the globe in order to protect the interests of managers and models while keeping a fair balance with the interests of our partner retail agencies and agents and clients. Advising members, and setting ethical rules and regulations so that we can all compete in a fair and respectful manner. M.A.M.A will continue to develop and set rules and regulations that will benefit us all Managers Models and Agents. M.A.M.A has been developed with the clear understanding that mother agents (managers) and retail agencies (agents) need to find a clearer organized manner to work together in partnership and ethical harmony for the benefit of the models career.

So what does M.A.M.A. do? M.A.M.A current main agenda topics are:

• “switching models” a plague that is hurting our industry. contracts must be respected. Models have the right to request a switch of managers and or agencies either by mutual consent of both parties of the agreement or by a judge decision. It is the models obligation to get a release of agreement from the court and not the managers/ mother agents. Models with the supervision of managers must not leave agencies with debts and before switching agencies the models and managers must settle outstanding debts or reach an agreement for future settlement of debt. • commissions and commission agreements. Drafting a recommended “MCA” Manager Commission Agreement advised for all members. The agreement will set the basic fundamental rules and regulations of M.A.M.A open to negotiation and most certainly to negotiate the financial terms of the agreement. *it is strictly prohibited of any M.A.M.A. directors or members to mutually agree or set rates on commissions or fees. • contracts/agreements between Managers and Models, M.A.M.A. will advise its members on the basic requirements for a proper manager representation agreement. this includes the right to represent the model, model career planning, model placement with partner agencies, negotiate on the models behalf and manage the model activities internationally.

• model welfare as managers that have many of times exclusive world wide agreements with models, we must stay alert to the models welfare and wellbeing. M.A.M.A supports the initiatives of various organizations such such as the model alliance and join in making the model business and working conditions a better place for models especially for underage models. • bridging disputes between managers/ models/agents. M.A.M.A.’s, directors, members, volunteers, legal and financial consultants will be made available to consult members in order to guide and possibly resolve disputes or issues with the aim of reaching a mutually agreed bridging solution and thus offering the parties the ability to continue to work together.

Taking better care of our models and introducing a Model Hotline (www.m-a-m-a.org)

M.A.M.A has developed a model hotline feature to assist models and parents with model business information, answer questions or concerns, help resolve issues, receive information about rogue or scam agencies in addition to assisting if possible to Emergencies. Model Hotline is based on the premise that when models encounter problems, they usually turn first to their peers for advice. Many models think their parents can’t possibly understand what’s happening in their lives and that their friends might laugh or abandon them. Model Hotline provides a safe, confidential place to talk things out with another model, manager or industry volunteer who can understand and will listen, but not judge.

This simple act of listening can make a huge difference – sometimes a life-saving one. Models know they can trust Models Hotline – and they do. The power of unity Now that we have united managers and models M.A.M.A. members have the ability to share information, find agreed bridging points and if necessary take mutual action against those who hurt the model business by breaking model business ethics. Search for M.A.M.A.’s member seal M.A.M.A. provides to its members a special logo, or “member seal”, which is intended to allow members of the fashion and model business, models future models and their guardian, clients, marketing, the advertising community – and the general public – to know that a particular company, or division of a company, is a member of the association. The logo is intended to be displayed only by current members of the organization in standard marketing materials. A typical use of such “seal” could include a website, an email promotion, or a printed brochure or advertisement. If you haven’t done it yet join M.A.M.A. today?

History of the In 1946, one brave French has made a blast in the history of the bikini. He introduced a modern bikini, but he could not find a model who would dare to model it. For this reason, he chose a night club dancer Micheline, who agreed to model a new bikini in a public pool of Paris. Finally, women from all over the world could take a break just like the women in Ancient era did, when they started wearing light bathing suits of two parts – bikini prototypes. Mosaic walls in Roman villa, which was built more than two thousand five hundred years ago in Sicily, is a living proof that bikini existed before Catholic dogmas made women dress from head to toe even on the beach.

Victorian Rules of Beach Fashion

Although swimwear exists for a few thousand years, the rules how to wear it appeared only in 17-19 centuries when seaside resorts began to expand. At first bathing suits seemed to be very strange and rather reminded of fall/winter clothing than light summer clothes. For example, the main fashion trends of swimwear in the 19th century were dark colors, knee length dress-jacket made from thick cloth and three quarter pants almost covering anklebones. A trendy girl at that time also wore a hat to make it even “hotter”. Swimwear has not changed much even after the end of Victorian era. When the King Edward has changed the Queen of England who was the longest to rule the country, the cult of excessive shyness and restriction was still on top. However, little by little things started changing.

Interwar. Jantzen Revolution

In 1907 Australian swimmer Annette Kellerman came to the United States and she dared to wear a bathing suit uncovering hands, legs and neck. She was arrested in Boston’s beach and accused of obscene behavior. A few years later, inspired by the courage of Australian swimmer, an American designer Carl Jantzen designed first functional bathing suit that reminded a light jumpsuit with short sleeves and shorts. Eventually, this suit became standard. Later, a suit of Jantzen has been transformed into a tight suit that is very close to a modern one-piece bathing suit. da ra The first ones who wore these bathing suits P , , and made them popular were Hollywood z e n e i m r, t n, a nRita s H D i o a r di c i , J e actresses Ava Gardner, r l c qu a n e C u c Ca Esther Hayworth, Ja i s ti i e r r , G , a P en h r others. FASHION & STYLE FASHION HISTORY

suits appeared on the pages of “Vogue” and “Life” magazines. Besides, for the first time they appeared in advertising boards and a company of bathing suites created by Jantzen became a wellknown brand “Jantzen” which is popular to this day. However, the biggest revolution of bathing suits had to wait a little…

Postwar. “Explosion” Caused by Louis Réard Once Louis Réard, a French engineer of automobiles came to Les Folies Bergères music club in Paris. By looking at the dancers he got an idea to create a bathing suit that would only cover the most

intimate parts of woman’s body. So on the 5th of July 1946, Louis Réard together with local designer Jacques Heim introduced a bathing suit that caused a real “explosion”. The new suit was once again modeled by a strip dancer Micheline Bernardini from “Casino de Paris” club, because no other model agreed to model it. Michelline modeled in one of a public pools in Paris. That was a modern twopiece bathing suit that Louis Réard named on behalf of an island in the Pacific Ocean where nuclear tests had been previously carried out. Louis Réard was convinced that this suit will bring explosion in fashion and compared it to explosion of atomic bomb. And he was right.

Beach Fashion Trends in 50’s and 60’s

In 1947, a legendary French designer Christian Dior started a new era, called New Look. Fashion became more liberal than ever before. In 1955, Dior has designed a collection of light bathing suits which became very popular among Hollywood actresses. In 1957, another not less famous French designer Hubert de Givenchy has started designing bathing suits in Paris for “Jantzen”. Synthetic swimwear appeared in 60’s. It was inspired by Space-Age Fashion designers Pierre Cardin, Emilio Pucci and provocateur Rudi Gernreich who was the first to design a so-called monokini – one-piece bathing suit that has no upper part and fully uncovers breasts. In 60’s he created plastic, transparent bathing suits that were modeled by the most famous models of the time Mary Quant and Peggy Moffitt.

Meanwhile, actresses Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot became icons and the main inspiration for vintage bathing suits in 50’s and 60’s.

Fashion Industry. Resort/ Cruise Collections

Today industry of bathing suits has become a vast and extremely diverse where the world’s most famous designers and fashion houses are playing. They dictate the main trends for bathing suits fashion and every year they present so-called resort or cruise collections for the warm season, that are oriented to customers. Those are the customers who can afford the most luxurious vacation, so among the newest resort collections we will always see such names as Chanel, Dior, Yves Saint-Laurent, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Marc Jacobs or Giorgio Armani. Undoubtedly, swimwear plays an important role in these collections. However, forms and directions presented during fashion weeks have big influence for beach fashion too. Perhaps the most interesting this season were Russian designer Alexandre Herchcovitz, Japapese designer Tsumori Chisato, French designer Sonia Rykiel and a Dsquared2 duo – brother Dean ir Dan Caten. 1940 m.

Jurgita.com recommends: • Beach must-have list should include bathing suits that look like maillot. • This season two-piece bikini seriously competes with one-piece bathing suits, so it is impossible to miss out if you choose a second option. • Get inspiration from beach clothing of Hollywood actresses of 50’s and 60’s. Vintage is fashionable even in the beach.

Eleanor Leonne Bennett is only 16 year old internationally award winning photographer and artist who has won first places with National Geographic, The World Photography Organisation, Nature's Best Photography, Papworth Trust, Mencap, The Woodland trust and Postal Heritage. Her photography has been published in the Telegraph, The Guardian, BBC News Website and on the cover of books and magazines in the United States and Canada. Her art is globally exhibited, having shown work in London, Paris, Indonesia, Los Angeles, Florida, Washington, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Canada, Spain, Germany, Japan, Australia and The Environmental Photographer of the year Exhibition (2011) amongst many other locations. She was also the only person from the UK to have her work displayed in the National Geographic and Airbus run See The Bigger Picture global exhibition tour with the United Nations International Year Of Biodiversity 2010.

Eleanor about charity shops and fashion photography „The jacket from this shoot was bought at a charity shop in my town. I feel it is a good way to recycle. I often buy from charity shops to get more of an edge in what I wear. I can find it hard to find clothes that express what I want. I find a lot of clothing boring and would to get my hands on some real one offs. These are all self portraits mainly on a timer of ten seconds. The dust being thrown is from the remains of a fire, I often used the ash to create a base for face painting. When wet it has an effect like clay. The top I am wearing was bought from Whaley Bridge buy a seller making money of the side for her family. It is hard from people to create funds for necessary items, I know many people who have there own ebay shops and model the clothes they have for sale. I enjoy practising fashion photography as I have much improved since I first started doing photography. I do wish I had a model and a good backdrop though. It would make my life a lot easier if I could get someone to makes the forms and create the graceful shapes I wish to capture.“

Chocolate Mochi – Japanese Ice Cream.

Mochi Ice Cream Recipe

Chocomania Lip Butter from The Body Shop www.thebodyshop-usa.com This buttery balm melts onto the lips for instant hydration. It contains real cocoa butter and has a delicious chocolate flavor.

This Japanese treat is about the size of a golfball and is basically ice cream covered in a dough-like shell, which is made out of rice flour and created in 80‘s. Flavors range from the familiar: chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry to the slightly more unusual: green tea and red bean paste. I have a thing for geometric shapes, so I'm loving the simplicity of the shapes and the idea of having your very own little ball of ice cream to call your own.

Ingredients 2 pints ice cream or sherbet, any flavor 2 cups mochiko flour 2 cups water 1 cup sugar 1 cup potato starch or cornstarch cupcake liners

Using a small scoop, form little balls of ice cream and place them on a wax-paper lined cookie sheet. Freeze them until very hard. The size of the ice cream balls will determine the eventual size of the mochi ice cream so try to make them on the smallish side (about 1 inch balls). In a small pot, bring the water and sugar to a boil, stirring well. Remove from heat and whisk in the mochiko flour. Blend until smooth. Return over a medium-low flame and cook for about 7-10 minutes, stirring to prevent burning. Sprinkle potato starch or cornstarch on a clean work surface. Pour on the hot mochi mixture. Allow to cool for about ten minutes. Pinch off a small amount of mochi and roll to form a ball. Then, flatten this ball with your palm. Place a frozen ice cream ball in the center and bring the edges of the mochi up and pinch to seal. Place this in a cupcake liner and return this ball to the freezer immediately. Continue with the rest of the mochi and ice cream balls. The yield will vary depending on the size you make. You can flavor your mochi to complement the ice cream center, if you like. Add extracts--like vanilla, lemon, strawberry, almond after the heating stage. You can tint the mochi with food coloring, too. Think holiday flavors like cranberry or pumpkin to customize your mochi ice cream. Keep some mochi ice cream on hand for last minute guests. If you wrap the mochi ice cream in plastic wrap or store in an air-tight freezer container, it should last about one month. Check for freezer burn if you keep them longer.

Mediterranean: Shrimp Salad with Grilled Asparagus and Mango

Thai: Chili-Lime Chicken Skewers with Spicy Green Pepper Sauce

SERVES

4-6

Source: www. tastefoodblog.com

1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 tablespoon soy sauce 1 tablespoon Sriracha or hot sauce 1 tablespoon brown sugar 1 teaspoon chili powder 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1 teaspoon paprika 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut in 1 inch chunks Bamboo skewers, soaked in warm water 30 minutes Whisk all of the marinade ingredients together. Place chicken in a bowl and toss with marinade. Refrigerate at least one hour or up to 24 hours. Prepare grill for high heat. Skewer chicken on pre-soaked bamboo sticks; discard marinade. Grill over direct high heat until nicely charred on all sides and thoroughly cooked through, about 8 minutes. Serve with Spicy Green Pepper Sauce. Spicy Green Pepper Sauce The beauty of this sauce is that you may use whatever fresh green herbs you have on hand and tinker with the flavor. It always tastes great. Try to make it a few hours before serving to let the flavors develop. Makes about 1 cup.

2 garlic cloves 1 small poblano pepper, coarsely chopped 1-2 jalapeno peppers, to taste, coarsely chopped 1 handful fresh mint leaves 1 handful fresh oregano leaves Juice of 1/2 lemon 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 teaspoons red wine vinegar 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper Pulse all of the ingredients in a bowl of a food processor to achieve a chunky sauce.
