CONCEPT The demolished washburn wire, old rod mill has left the site as a complex brownfield. The contamination on the site are lead and metal. There are several types of landfills on the site, which are soil fi ll, calcine waste, copper slag area, and air quenched slag area. There is also a rail road track on the site. Beside the rail road and on the site, there are many vegetation which are very tolerant to saline-alkali soil, such as sumac. They show the impact of industrial history on the ecosystem. After the steel plants are demolished, we are going to locate the remaining pollutants on the site and give sollutions on these pollutants. We try to engage the remediation with the revival of Philipdale in the form of landscape architecture. Through mapping the material collected from the site on the map, experience of the site has been materialized.
